Book Description
All organizations hold stocks. These are the stores of materials they keep until needed. A shop, for example, buys goods from a wholesaler and keeps them into stock till it sells them to customers; a farmer stores hay to feed his animals over the winter; a research company has a stock of information; a bank holds cash for its day-to-day transactions. Whenever an organization has materials that it does not use immediately, it puts them into stock. You might imagine stock as warehouses full of goods but every organization holds stock, even those providing the most intangible service. A retail company stores faces the same problems of inventory management as a giant manufacturer with its stores of finished goods and components. This is a book about Retail Inventory Management. It describes recent thinking about retail stock and methods for its control. We have concentrated on the core questions of retail inventory management in this book What exactly is inventory management in retail? How do decisions about stock affect sales in retail operations? How can we control stocks and overall cost? What information do we need? What is the effect of new methods and technology? The answers to these questions embrace the most important issues of inventory management.

Book Description
macroeconomics for managers This book by Michael Evans provides an excellent introduction to understanding the impact of the macroeconomy on a business. It is well written and makes the subject matter accessible to MBA and college students, managers, and interested laymen. This book belongs on every business bookshelf. Raj Aggarwal, Kent State University This text offers business managers and business school students an excellent practical explanation of the short-term linkages that impact the performance of the overall economy. While the underlying theoretical constructs are not ignored, emphasis is placed on the empirical underpinnings and managerial implications of macroeconomics. The text begins by introducing key concepts such as the GDP, National and Personal Income, and the various measures of inflation and unemployment. Building on this foundation it then analyzes the following aspects of macroeconomics: aggregate supply and demand, international financial markets, cyclical fluctuations, policy analysis, and forecasting. Engaging the reader through many features, the text includes detailed case studies and “Manager’s Briefcase” discussions, which provide practical applications of macroeconomic concepts to real-world situations. Additionally, each chapter ends with a list of key concepts, a chapter summary, and practice questions. Its short-term, empirically oriented approach makes this text a distinctive and practical resource for better understanding macroeconomics.

Book Description
This book introduces a new approach in the field of macroeconomic inventory studies: the use of multivariate statistics to evaluate long-term characteristics of inventory investments in developed countries. By analyzing a 44-year period series of annual inventory change in percentage of GDP in a set of OECD countries, disclosing their relationship to growth, industry structure and alternative uses of GDP (fixed capital investments, foreign trade and consumption), it fills a gap in the economic literature. It is generally accepted that inventories play an important role in all levels of the economy. However, while there is extensive literature on micro- (and even item-) level inventory problems, macroeconomic inventory studies are scarce. Both the long-term processes of inventory formation and their correlation with other macroeconomic factors provide interesting conclusions about economic changes and policies in our immediate past, and present important insights for the future.
