Spatial features include the moat space, the parade ground within Battery Weed, and the overlook Space. Circulation features include the mine railway, overlook promenade, Battery Weed Road, and the dock road. Panoramic views from the overlook and waterfront are also contributing features. Buildings and structures include Battery Weed, the Torpedo Storage Building, the second mine casemate, Battery Catlin parados (magazine), the overlook stone wall, concrete block garage, small concrete shed, north dock, seawall, Battery Bacon north gun emplacement, the Coincident range-finder (crf) station, and slope retaining wall. As ecology becomes the new engineering, the projection of landscape as infrastructure—the contemporary alignment of the disciplines of landscape architecture, civil engineering, and urban planning— has become pressing. Predominant challenges facing urban regions and territories today—including shifting climates, material flows, and population mobilities, are addressed and strategized here.
