C. 97, Sched. Settle ment, as being a deed whereby any definite and certain principal sum of money is settled, Sanville v. Commissioners of Inland Revenue, 10 Exch. 159; 23 Law J., Exch. 271. Bonds and mortgages and other securities, operating as settlements, and chargeable with ad valorem duties on bonds or mortgages, are exempt from the settlement duty; also deeds in execution of powers in a previous settlement in favour of special objects of such powers also deeds merely declaring the trusts of any money or stock pur suant to a previous settlement, or for securing any gifts or dispositions made by any previous settlement, deed or will; also wills and all testamentary dispositions mortis causzi of every description, 55 Geo. 8, c. 184, Sebed., Part I., tit.
