La modélisation numérique des équations de Maxwell n'étant pas facilement transposable pour la résolution de certains circuits hyperfréquences, il apparait important d'étendre en parallèle des méthodes capables d'analyser ces nouveaux dispositifs micro-onde. Ces derniers peuvent être appliqués, dans notre cas, à la définition et à la conception de dispositifs basées sur la théorie des circuits. Pour conserver ce type d'approche (équation des Télégraphistes), une minimisation des différents problèmes parasites doit être respéctée, notamment pour les technologies dites plaquées et pour les hautes fréquences. En effet, l'un des problèmes inhérents à la conception de dispositifs réalisés avec des réseaux de lignes de transmissions est qu'ils font appels à la réalisation de discontinuités ou bien à des variations non uniformes de la largeur des lignes. Ce problème devient important pour la conception d'adaptateurs d'impédance et de filtres. Bien que le comportement d'une discontinuité soit parfaitement assimilé, il n'en ai pas de même pour l'analyse des lignes présentant une non uniformité de leur variation. Franck Laloë was a researcher at the Kastler-Brossel laboratory of the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris. His first assignment was with the University of Paris VI before he was appointed to the CNRS, the French National Research Center. His research was focused on optical pumping, statistical mechanics of quantum gases, musical acoustics and the foundations of quantum mechanics.
