Book Description
This book can save you more than $100,000. These days, most people assume you need to pay a boatload of money for a quality college education. As a result, students and their parents are willing to go into years of debt and potentially sabotage their entire financial futures just to get a fancy name on their diploma. But Zac Bissonnette is walking proof that this assumption is not only false, but dangerous-a class con game designed to rip you off and doom your student to a post-graduation life of near poverty . From his unique double perspective-he's a personal finance expert (at Daily Finance) AND a current senior at the University of Massachusetts-Zac figured out how to get an outstanding education at a public college, without bankrupting his parents or taking on massive loans. Armed with his personal knowledge, the latest data, and smart analysis, Zac takes on the sacred cows of the higher education establishment. He reveals why a lot of the conventional wisdom about choosing and financing college is not only wrong but hazardous to you and your child's financial future. You'll discover, for instance, that: * Student loans are NOT a necessary evil. Ordinary middle class families can- and must-find ways to avoid them, even without scholarships. * College "rankings" are useless-designed to sell magazines and generate hype. If you trust one of the major guides when picking a college, you face a potential financial disaster. * The elite graduate programs accept lots of people with non-elite bachelors degrees. So do America's most selective employers. The name on a diploma ultimately won't help your child have a more successful career or earn more money. Zac can prove every one of those bold assertions - and more. No matter what your current financial situation, he has a simple message for parents: "RELAX! Your kid will be able to get a champagne education on a beer budget!"

Book Description
This paper investigates the short-term effects of fiscal consolidation on economic activity in OECD economies. We examine the historical record, including Budget Speeches and IMFdocuments, to identify changes in fiscal policy motivated by a desire to reduce the budget deficit and not by responding to prospective economic conditions. Using this new dataset, our estimates suggest fiscal consolidation has contractionary effects on private domestic demand and GDP. By contrast, estimates based on conventional measures of the fiscal policy stance used in the literature support the expansionary fiscal contractions hypothesis but appear to be biased toward overstating expansionary effects.

Book Description
Twelve years ago, author Stephen Nawotniak was diagnosed with bipolar disorder after a weeklong hospitalization for a severe case of depression. He has been coping with the symptoms and in the process of recovery since. In Handbook for Healthy Living with a Mood Disorder, he offers an experienced-based sharing of skills and tools that have worked for him. Relying on his experience as an occupational therapist, he focuses on constructing a meaningful quality of life using life skills that are effective and important for everybody while addressing and accommodating the needs unique to a bipolar disorder. He explores the intervention approaches—developing skills, modifying tasks, providing tools, modifying contexts, adapting environments, and developing task alternatives—that allowed him to differentiate his diagnosis from his personality, discern problem areas, and restructure his lifestyle so that he could successfully live with the condition and not simply manage or cope with it as an illness. Using his methods, you can do the same. Praise for Handbook for Healthy Living with a Mood Disorder “Steve has taken his lived experience with a mood disorder, his self-help peer support group facilitation skills, and his successful career path as an occupational therapist and created an easy-to-use self-help workbook that allows you to become your own life coach. ... I recommend the book for anyone who would like to make changes to improve life in any or all of the dimensions of recovery and wellness.” —Rita Cronise, coordinator for the International Association of Peer Supporters (iNAPS) “This book is highly recommended as a clinical method for his perspective on living with the ups and downs of this condition with a graded, positive process. ... Nawotniak is creative in the language he uses, which is appealing, practical and original, conveying his message with an immediacy that is typical of occupational therapy interventions.” —Mary Donohue, PhD, OTL, FAOTA

Book Description
Discover the eternal value of your finite time—and intentionally choose the meaningful over the urgent every single day. Our culture makes it so that even the most organized and efficient among us feels the pressure of the ticking clock and the possibility and regret of missing out. Modern life has evolved in a way that sets us up for stress, pressure, and overload. New norms and attitudes tap into deeply-wired psychological impulses that make it harder than ever to take control of your time. Many of us also have innate personality traits that make the struggle even worse. No wonder time can become a tyrant that leaves us chronically stressed and discontented. Unlock an approach to life that bestselling author Valorie Burton calls “living timelessly.” You will come to understand 1) the gradual changes that have led us to a place where having too much to do and too little time to do it is the norm, 2) the vision for what it could look like if you were free from the stress of time and how to blast through the obstacles to those possibilities, and 3) the practical steps to choosing the meaningful over the urgent so that your life is unhurried yet purposeful and reflects the values and impact that are unique to you. It’s About Time helps you reimagine a life that is meaningful, at a pace that is natural, with a load that is doable and equips you with the tools to make it happen.
