Book Description
Excerpt from Class of 1867, Secretary's Report, 1873, Vol. 4 I have been unable to keep as full a record of those who did not graduate with us, as I could have wished. You will remember that all were invited to remain members of our organization, and that several signified their wish to do so. These I have taken particular pains to keep track of, and to assure that though not recognized as sons, we claim them as brothers. Garbutt received his degree of A. B., as of the class of in 1871. Four of our number have died three of them, Dinsmoor, Loud, and Sanborn, since my last report. Marriages have been numerous, engagements are still pending, and the second generation of '67 is already numbered by the score. Book Description
Excerpt from Secretary's Report, Vol. 4 Our next regular Class dinner and reunion will be held at Commencement in 1905, at which time every member of the Class, even including those who live in Boston and vicinity, should make an earnest endeavor to be present and get together once more. I regret to say that it will be seen from the following Class Records that the Secretary has been unable to keep in touch with various members of the Class, both regular and temporary. I earnestly desire any possible information in reference to these men who are scheduled as not heard from, and trust in following Reports that this list will be wiped out. Book Description
Excerpt from Secretary's Report, Vol. 4: August, 1890 The amount unpaid on your subscriptions made ten years ago to the class and college funds is discouraging. In spite of semi-annual reminders of your indebtedness many of you seem to consider the account as something to be paid only when perfectly convenient, and forget that obligations have been entered into and expenses incurred on the strength of your subscriptions. I shall attempt this summer to collect the unpaid balance by personal letters, and shall be really grateful to any of you who will save me the trouble by closing your account at once. I am indebted to the class secretaries of 1877 and 1882 for per mission to use the negatives of heliotypes prepared for their reports, issued this year. Book Description
Excerpt from The Fifth Triennial Report of the Secretary: Of the Class of 1873 of Harvard College; Commencement, 1888 The Fifth Triennial Report is herewith submitted to the Class. To those who responded promptly to my appeal for data for this Report, I would express my thanks. Toward those who required a second and a third summons, my gratitude is not so deep. To those who totally and habitually disregard my letters, I would say that the Triennial throes could be much alleviated if they would bear their share in the labor of bringing forth the customary Report. It is a matter to be regretted that each of the Reports issued since graduation should be dated from a different place; and that, in consequence, some confusion may arise as to my address. Letters sent to the address given in any previous Report will always reach me, however; and my henceforth - probably - permanent address is given below. I have to report but one death in the Class since 1885 - that of Ernest Young, which occurred in Boston, March 2d, 1888.
