Excerpt: ...of engineers, answers a telephone or still alarm, not exceeding four persons, or performs service at a brush fire, shall receive thirty-five cents per hour in full payment for such service. The names of such persons as may perform the foregoing services, with the place visited, time employed, and compensation due, set opposite their respective names, shall be certified, within fifteen days from the end of the month, as a pay-roll by the clerk of the board of engineers to the city clerk, who shall certify the same to the auditor and disburse the amount specified to the employes, taking their receipt therefor. Sect. 4. The foreman of each company in the fire department shall report to the city clerk at the expiration of each quarter, the names of all men who have been active members of his company during the quarter, or any part thereof, giving date of all discharges, and of all elections of new members; and he shall, annually, in September, compute the pay of each member according to the preceding section, and make oath to the correctness of said reports and pay-rolls thereon. Sect. 5. The city clerk shall furnish to each foreman proper blanks for his reports and pay-rolls. Sect. 6. The chief engineer shall have control of the horses and drivers at fires and until they are dismissed, and may require their service whenever he may consider it necessary for drill or parade; the drivers shall also perform such services as the chief engineer may assign to them while they are on fire patrol duty at the fire station.
