Charts for the Analysis of Isentropic One-dimensional Unsteady Expansions in Equilibrium Real Air with Particular Reference to Shock-initiated Flows
Author: William L. Grose
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Air
Languages : en
Pages : 32
Book Description
Charts are presented which facilitate the theoretical analysis of certain flow processes involving an unsteady expansion wave in equilibrium real air. The parameters evaluated are related to (a) the velocity change in an unsteady expansion wave, (b) the maximum velocity attainable in a shock-wave--expansion-wave cycle, (c) the time for characteristic traversal through an expansion wave, and (d) the entropy in shock-initiated flows. Such parameters are of particular interest in analysis of the shock-initiated expansion-tube cycle.

Table and Charts of Equilibrium Normal-shock and Shock-tube Properties for Pure Carbon Dioxide with Velocities from 1 to 16 Km/sec
Author: Charles George Miller
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Aerothermodynamics
Languages : en
Pages : 298
Book Description
Properties include pressure, temperature, density, enthalpy, speed of sound, entropy, molecular weight ratio, isentropic exponent, velocity, and species mole fractions. Incident (moving) shock velocities are varied from 1 to 16 km/sec for a range of initial pressure of 5 N/sq m to 500 kN/sq m. Working charts illustrating idealized shock tube performance with CO2 test gas and heated helium and hydrogen driver gases are also presented.

Normal Shock Wave Calculations in Air at Flight Speeds Up to 25,000 Ft./sec
Author: Charles A. Cook
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Shock waves
Languages : en
Pages : 48
Book Description
New calculations of the equilibrium gas proper ties behind a normal shock wave are presented based on the 1959 ARDC Model Atmosphere. Graphs of pressure, density, and temperat8re are pre sented for conditions behind a normal shock wave and at the stagnation point following an isen tropic compression, for high altitude hypersonic flight. The regime treated covers altitude from 100,000 feet to 400,000 feet in increments of 2000 feet, and a range of flight speeds from 10,000 to 25,000 feet per second. (Author).
