Book Description
Preparing students for further study of both the classical works and current research, this is an accessible text for students who have had a course in real and complex analysis and understand the basic properties of L p spaces. It is sprinkled liberally with examples, historical notes, citations, and original sources, and over 450 exercises provide practice in the use of the results developed in the text through supplementary examples and counterexamples.

Book Description
This book focuses on the major applications of martingales to the geometry of Banach spaces, and a substantial discussion of harmonic analysis in Banach space valued Hardy spaces is also presented. It covers exciting links between super-reflexivity and some metric spaces related to computer science, as well as an outline of the recently developed theory of non-commutative martingales, which has natural connections with quantum physics and quantum information theory. Requiring few prerequisites and providing fully detailed proofs for the main results, this self-contained study is accessible to graduate students with a basic knowledge of real and complex analysis and functional analysis. Chapters can be read independently, with each building from the introductory notes, and the diversity of topics included also means this book can serve as the basis for a variety of graduate courses.

Book Description
It is well known that if two independent identically distributed random variables are Gaussian, then their sum and difference are also independent. It turns out that only Gaussian random variables have such property. This statement, known as the famous Kac-Bernstein theorem, is a typical example of a so-called characterization theorem. Characterization theorems in mathematical statistics are statements in which the description of possible distributions of random variables follows from properties of some functions of these random variables. The first results in this area are associated with famous 20th century mathematicians such as G. Pólya, M. Kac, S. N. Bernstein, and Yu. V. Linnik. By now, the corresponding theory on the real line has basically been constructed. The problem of extending the classical characterization theorems to various algebraic structures has been actively studied in recent decades. The purpose of this book is to provide a comprehensive and self-contained overview of the current state of the theory of characterization problems on locally compact Abelian groups. The book will be useful to everyone with some familiarity of abstract harmonic analysis who is interested in probability distributions and functional equations on groups.

Book Description
The purpose of this book is to present the main structure theorems in the isometric theory of classical Banach spaces. Elements of general topology, measure theory, and Banach spaces are assumed to be familiar to the reader. A classical Banach space is a Banach space X whose dual space is linearly isometric to Lp(j1, IR) (or Lp(j1, CC) in the complex case) for some measure j1 and some 1 ~ p ~ 00. If 1

Book Description
For graduate students and research mathematicians interested in global analysis and the analysis of manifolds, lays the foundations for a differential calculus in infinite dimensions and discusses applications in infinite-dimension differential geometry and global analysis not involving Sobolev completions and fixed-point theory. Shows how the notion of smoothness as mapping smooth curves to smooth curves coincides with all known reasonable concepts up to Frechet spaces. Then develops a calculus of holomorphic mappings, and another of real analytical mapping. Emphasizes regular infinite dimensional Lie groups. Annotation copyrighted by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR

Book Description
Morrey spaces were introduced by Charles Morrey to investigate the local behaviour of solutions to second order elliptic partial differential equations. The technique is very useful in many areas in mathematics, in particular in harmonic analysis, potential theory, partial differential equations and mathematical physics. Across two volumes, the authors of Morrey Spaces: Introduction and Applications to Integral Operators and PDE’s discuss the current state of art and perspectives of developments of this theory of Morrey spaces, with the emphasis in Volume II focused mainly generalizations and interpolation of Morrey spaces. Features Provides a ‘from-scratch’ overview of the topic readable by anyone with an understanding of integration theory Suitable for graduate students, masters course students, and researchers in PDE's or Geometry Replete with exercises and examples to aid the reader’s understanding
