Excerpt from Certaine Considerations Touching the Better Pacification, and Edification of the Church of England: Dedicated to His Most Excellent Majesty It is very true that thefe Ecclefiafiicall matters, are things nor properly appertaining to my pro fe ion 5 which iwas ilot f0 inconfiderate but to objea to my felfe 3 but finding that it is many times' feene, that a man that fiandeth offiandfiome what removed from a plot ofground, doth better furvey it and difcover it, than thofe which are up ou'ir', I thought it not po ible But that I as a locker on might ca f mine eyes upon fome things which the afiprs themlelves, (efpecially fome be ing intereffed, fome led and addiaem fome decla red andingaged) did nor or would noe fee; and that knowingi'h my Confcience Whereto god beareth Witneffe that the things which 1 (ball {peake, fpring out of no vaineof popularitiepften tation, defire of noveltie, partialitie to either tide; difpofition to intermeddleaor any the like levenimay conceive hope, that what I want in depth of judgement, may be countervailedin fimplicitie, and {interitie of a 'eaion.
