Book Description
That Empty Feeling is the true story of a desperate rescue attempt launched into the Truong Son Mountain range in Laos, Southeast Asia. The year was 1967 and the mission to search for, return and recover an American led reconnaissance patrol (9 men) that had been secretly ordered to monitor any activity North Vietnam was conducting on or near the Ho Chi Minh Trail. The patrol had been compromised soon after their helicopter insertion into neutral Laos. The primary agency charged with the search and rescue mission (S.A.R.) was a little known cousin of the CIA and was in fact financed by that group. SOG, or studies and observation group, was a Special Forces Green Beret led and trained project. The Special Forces bolstered their patrols with trained mercenaries, in this case soldiers with Cambodian roots. During the course of the rescue mission the Special Forces were joined by U.S. Air Force assets, Vietnamese air assets (V.N.A.F.), U.S. Army helicopters and U.S.M.C. attack helicopters. This combined force was unique and made for a complex and complicated mission. Both American air and ground units were opposed by a well-trained and numerically superior North Vietnamese Army dedicated to eliminating all opposition on or near the Ho Chi Minh Trail. The two adversaries locked horns and neither could disengage. At one point the American rescue team needed to be rescued. Acts of heroism resulted in many awards being bestowed including the Congressional Medal of Honor, Purple Hearts, Air Force Crosses, Silver Stars and more. The American public was never made privy to the circumstances of U.S. deaths and injuries. Families of the American casualties in Laos and Cambodia were either lied to or misled. Much information regarding American activity in Laos and Cambodia was purposely destroyed prior to the conclusion of the war. SOG participants and those that supported SOG agreed to be interviewed by the author and provided many hours of anecdotes from their memories. These interviews provided the basis for That Empty Feeling. Green Beret officers, army sergeants, highly educated U.S.A.F. pilots and others shared their personal views and opinions concerning their participation in the mission. In addition, many indicated they had struggled with the effects the mission had on their psyche and the inability they had to come to grips with both their heroism and their failure to completely win the day.(Surprisingly several recalled humorous events and conversations that occurred under the most stressful situations.) Remains of those not recovered despite several opportunities by combatants and recent forensic attempts remain somewhere in Laos on the battlefield and unlikely to ever be returned. The book had no clear cut winner or loser, just the reflections of those that saw this as the source of emptiness.

Book Description
The secret weapon developed by the man Cavanaugh is assigned to protect is like Kryptonite to the former Delta Force officer turned security guard--it multiplies the effects of adrenaline, a hormone associated with fear, so it incapacitates instead of energizing him. A lot of people want Daniel Prescott's secret, but Cavanaugh, who's felt the drug's effects, wants his antidote. When Prescott disappears after causing the death of the Global Protective Services team charged with keeping him alive, Cavanaugh and his wife Jamie go after him in a high-speed chase that traps them between government agents and foreign operatives each racing to find the scientist first and kill him before he can use his formula on them. Despite Prescott's double-dealing, and the bloody battle in a mountain redoubt that results in the deaths of his friends and colleagues, Cavanaugh knows the only way to banish the fear that may compromise his and Jamie's own safety is to track the elusive scientist to his last refuge. In this propulsive thriller, Morrell turns the tables so often that it's hard to separate the good guys from the bad ones, but that won't keep readers addicted to violence, treachery, and high-tech weaponry from staying with it to the last surprising chapter. “Spectacular action backed by the author’s hands-on research . . . a horrifying climax . . . twists and turns . . . one of the best of the genre.”—Associated Press “Everything [Morrell} writes has a you-are-there quality, and that, coupled with his ability to propel characters through a scene, makes reading him like attending a private screening.”—Washington Post Book World “Impressive action . . . plenty of twists . . . most notable, though, is the advertised ‘tradecraft’—from clever ways to modify one’s ammo and armor to the very best method of taking out a car you’re chasing.”—Publishers Weekly “The story accelerates to warp speed, hurtles to a stunning climax. A wonderfully entertaining action adventure.”—Booklist

Book Description
#1 NATIONAL BESTSELLER! Justice Anthony Kennedy slipped out of the Supreme Court building on June 27, 2018, and traveled incognito to the White House to inform President Donald Trump that he was retiring, setting in motion a political process that his successor, Brett Kavanaugh, would denounce three months later as a “national disgrace” and a “circus.” Justice on Trial, the definitive insider’s account of Kavanaugh’s appointment to the Supreme Court, is based on extraordinary access to more than one hundred key figures—including the president, justices, and senators—in that ferocious political drama. The Trump presidency opened with the appointment of Neil Gorsuch to succeed the late Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court. But the following year, when Trump drew from the same list of candidates for his nomination of Brett Kavanaugh, the justice being replaced was the swing vote on abortion, and all hell broke loose. The judicial confirmation process, on the point of breakdown for thirty years, now proved utterly dysfunctional. Unverified accusations of sexual assault became weapons in a ruthless campaign of personal destruction, culminating in the melodramatic hearings in which Kavanaugh’s impassioned defense resuscitated a nomination that seemed beyond saving. The Supreme Court has become the arbiter of our nation’s most vexing and divisive disputes. With the stakes of each vacancy incalculably high, the incentive to destroy a nominee is nearly irresistible. The next time a nomination promises to change the balance of the Court, Hemingway and Severino warn, the confirmation fight will be even uglier than Kavanaugh’s. A good person might accept that nomination in the naïve belief that what happened to Kavanaugh won’t happen to him because he is a good person. But it can happen, it does happen, and it just happened. The question is whether America will let it happen again.

When American journalist Jenna McMillan innocently steps into an assassination plot Gabe is trying to foil in Buenos Aires, Gabe saves her life but is injured. And, there’s unfinished business between Gabe and Jenna—grudging professional admiration and sexual attraction—from when they brought down an Argentinian neo-Nazi months ago… TAKE NO PRISONERS Amid the glitz and glitter of Las Vegas, twenty-seven-year-old Abbie Hughes, part-time accounting student and full-time blackjack dealer in a major casino, is trying desperately to convince herself that her brother, Cory, finally has his act together. But Cory, who she’d expected back from one of his frequent trips to Honduras where he buys native crafts for resale in the states, was due back in Vegas two days ago and she hasn’t heard a word from him. She’s starting to worry. Unknown to her, Cory is a middleman in a gem-smuggling ring…and Abbie, as Cory’s sister, is now in danger... WHISPER NO LIES Las Vegas casino security expert Crystal Debrowski met sexy, heroic Johnny Reed in Honduras, where she helped him save her friend Abbie Hughes and Sam Lang (the protagonists of Take No Prisoners), but after the rescue, they went their separate ways. After Crystal spurns the advances of an older, mysterious Asian man at the casino one night, bad things start to happen. Then she remembers the man she rebuffed, Tran Hoang, who is an Asian mafia crime lord. Johnny and Crystal are soon mired in not only a steamy love affair but in a human trafficking/prostitution, arms-trading ring, and a counterfeiting scheme that could bring down the US economy.

Book Description
#1New York Times bestselling author Stephanie Laurens continues the bold tales of the Cavanaugh siblings as the sole Cavanaugh sister discovers that love truly does conquer all. A lady with a passion for music and the maestro she challenges in pursuit of a worthy cause find themselves battling villains both past and present as they fight to secure life’s greatest rewards—love, marriage, and family. Stacie—Lady Eustacia Cavanaugh—is adamant marriage is not for her. Haunted by her parents’ unhappy union, Stacie believes that, for her, marriage is an unacceptable risk. Wealthy and well-born, she needs for nothing, and with marriage off the table, to give her life purpose, she embarks on a plan to further the careers of emerging local musicians by introducing them to the ton via a series of musical evenings. Yet despite her noble status, Stacie requires a musical lure to tempt the haut ton to her events, and in the elevated circles she inhabits, only one musician commands sufficient cachet—the reclusive and notoriously reluctant Marquess of Albury. Frederick, Marquess of Albury, has fashioned a life for himself as a musical scholar, one he pursues largely out of sight of the ton. He might be renowned as a virtuoso on the pianoforte, yet he sees no reason to endure the smothering over-attentiveness of society. Then his mother inveigles him into meeting Stacie, and the challenge she lays before him is…tempting. On a number of fronts. Enough for him not to immediately refuse her. A dance of subtle persuasion ensues, and step by step, Frederick finds himself convinced that Stacie’s plan has real merit and that it behooves him to support her. At least for one event. Stacie’s first musical evening, featuring Frederick as the principal performer, is a massive success—until Fate takes a hand and lands them in a situation that forces them both to reassess. Does Frederick want more than the sterile, academic life he’d thought was for him? Can Stacie overcome her deepest fears and own to and reach for her girlhood dreams? Impulsive, arrogant, and used to getting his own way, Frederick finds his answer easily enough, but his new direction puts him on a collision course with Stacie’s fears. Luckily, he thrives on challenges—which is just as well, because in addition to convincing Stacie that love can, indeed, conquer all, he and she must unravel the mystery of who is behind a spate of murderous attacks before the villain succeeds in eliminating all hope of a happy ending. A classical historical romance set in London and Surrey, in the heart of the ton. Third novel in The Cavanaughs—a full-length historical romance of 122,000 words. Praise for the works of Stephanie Laurens “Stephanie Laurens’ heroines are marvelous tributes to Georgette Heyer: feisty and strong.” Cathy Kelly “Stephanie Laurens never fails to entertain and charm her readers with vibrant plots, snappy dialogue, and unforgettable characters.”Historical Romance Reviews. “Stephanie Laurens plays into readers’ fantasies like a master and claims their hearts time and again.” Romantic Times Magazine
