Book Description
Carbide and nitride activation in a reducing, nitridating, or carburizing environment was evaluated. Catalyst activation occurred at temperatures in excess of 300°C in all gases. Activation in 15% CH4/H 2 produced materials with the highest activities by replenishing the surface carbidic carbon content. Pretreatment in H2 at temperatures in excess of 450°C resulted in a loss of activity as a result of over reduction. No loss was observed with NH3. Supported platinum and nickel were found to facilitate catalyst activation.

Book Description
Co-edited by world-renowned scientists in the field of catalysis, this book contains the cutting-edge in situ and operando spectroscopy characterization techniques operating under reaction conditions to determine a materials’ bulk, surface, and solution complex and their applications in the field of catalysis with emphasis on solid catalysts in powder form since such catalyst are relevant for industrial applications. The handbook covers from widely-used to cutting-edge techniques. The handbook is written for a broad audience of students and professionals who want to pursue the full capabilities available by the current state-of-the-art in characterization to fully understand how their catalysts really operate and guide the rational design of advanced catalysts. Individuals involved in catalysis research will be interested in this handbook because it contains a catalogue of cutting-edge methods employed in characterization of catalysts. These techniques find wide use in applications such as petroleum refining, chemical manufacture, natural gas conversion, pollution control, transportation, power generation, pharmaceuticals and food processing. fdsfds

Book Description
In this book, the Cu/SBA-15 model catalyst for methanol steam reforming is described in detail. This study is an exemplarily road map for investigating model catalysts. The mesoporous structure of SBA-15 support, the structure of supported copper nanoparticles and their activity with regard to H2 production are presented. Based on that, structure activity correlations are deduced. Moreover, relationships between the structure of precursors and the structure of active catalysts are deduced. Therefore several analytical are presented: N2 Physisorption, DR-UV/Vis, in situ XANES, TPR, in situ XRD, specific copper surface area (N2O), size and strain analysis of copper nanoparticles, H2 production by methanol steam reforming. The reliable analysis procedure of each experimental method is described and can be principally employed on similarly constructed catalysts.

Book Description
Comprehensive Inorganic Chemistry II, Nine Volume Set reviews and examines topics of relevance to today’s inorganic chemists. Covering more interdisciplinary and high impact areas, Comprehensive Inorganic Chemistry II includes biological inorganic chemistry, solid state chemistry, materials chemistry, and nanoscience. The work is designed to follow on, with a different viewpoint and format, from our 1973 work, Comprehensive Inorganic Chemistry, edited by Bailar, Emeléus, Nyholm, and Trotman-Dickenson, which has received over 2,000 citations. The new work will also complement other recent Elsevier works in this area, Comprehensive Coordination Chemistry and Comprehensive Organometallic Chemistry, to form a trio of works covering the whole of modern inorganic chemistry. Chapters are designed to provide a valuable, long-standing scientific resource for both advanced students new to an area and researchers who need further background or answers to a particular problem on the elements, their compounds, or applications. Chapters are written by teams of leading experts, under the guidance of the Volume Editors and the Editors-in-Chief. The articles are written at a level that allows undergraduate students to understand the material, while providing active researchers with a ready reference resource for information in the field. The chapters will not provide basic data on the elements, which is available from many sources (and the original work), but instead concentrate on applications of the elements and their compounds. Provides a comprehensive review which serves to put many advances in perspective and allows the reader to make connections to related fields, such as: biological inorganic chemistry, materials chemistry, solid state chemistry and nanoscience Inorganic chemistry is rapidly developing, which brings about the need for a reference resource such as this that summarise recent developments and simultaneously provide background information Forms the new definitive source for researchers interested in elements and their applications; completely replacing the highly cited first edition, which published in 1973
