Les méthodes de roulage à froid de barres sont largement utilisées dans les industries de transformation pour obtenir des pièces à profil complexe. Dans cette étude, des rainures circulaires ont été formées par roulage radial en utilisant deux roues. Un dispositif expérimental monté sur un tour a été conçu à cet effet. La pièce est entrainée en rotation par le tour et la pénétration des roues est assurée par un système de vérins. Le système permet de mesurer en temps réel les paramètres du procédé, en particulier l'avance des roues et la force de roulage radiale. Le comportement des 4 aciers sélectionnés a été caractérisé en traction, torsion et compression. Nous avons retenu les résultats des essais de compression, qui permettent d'obtenir des déformations équivalentes jusqu'à [epsilon] = 0,9. L'écrouissage a été caractérisé par une loi de Johnson-Cook modifiée, qui permet de rendre compte des effets thermiques et de sensibilité à la vitesse de déformation aux 2 vitesses de déformations utilisées. Les essais de roulage ont été analysés pour une large gamme de pression et de vitesses de rotation. De plus, des mesures de micro-dureté ont été réalisées dans une section axiale, ainsi que des mesures de rugosité à la surface des dents. Des simulations numériques du procédé ont été réalisées. Un maillage permettant de rendre compte des très forts gradients de déformation a été mis au point, tout en gardant des temps de calcul raisonnables. Les comparaisons avec les résultats expérimentaux montrent un bon accord sur la force de roulage radiale. De plus, nous avons pu mettre en correspondance les valeurs de micro-dureté mesurées avec les niveaux de contrainte équivalente calculés
