Book Description
Toyo Suyemoto is known informally by literary scholars and the media as "Japanese America's poet laureate." But Suyemoto has always described herself in much more humble terms. A first-generation Japanese American, she has identified herself as a storyteller, a teacher, a mother whose only child died from illness, and an internment camp survivor. Before Suyemoto passed away in 2003, she wrote a moving and illuminating memoir of her internment camp experiences with her family and infant son at Tanforan Race Track and, later, at the Topaz Relocation Center in Utah, from 1942 to 1945. A uniquely poetic contribution to the small body of internment memoirs, Suyemoto's account includes information about policies and wartime decisions that are not widely known, and recounts in detail the way in which internees adjusted their notions of selfhood and citizenship, lending insight to the complicated and controversial questions of citizenship, accountability, and resistance of first- and second-generation Japanese Americans. Suyemoto's poems, many written during internment, are interwoven throughout the text and serve as counterpoints to the contextualizing narrative. Suyemoto's poems, many written during internment, are interwoven throughout the text and serve as counterpoints to the contextualizing narrative. A small collection of poems written in the years following her incarceration further reveal the psychological effects of her experience.

Book Description
Call to Remembrance is the first book to tell the story of Bahaullah, the Prophet-Founder of the Bahai Faith, largely through His own words. Combining extracts from Bahullahs writing and supplementing with additional background information, many major events in His life and ministry are presented. This unique compilation chronicles all periods of Bahullahs life, and is organized into five sections. Section One - gives a glimpse of Bahaullahs early years, marked by the advantages of high birth and riches, and characterized by His unfailing solicitude for the poor, sick, and downtrodden. Section Two covers His exemplary period of discipleship to His forerunner, the Bab. Section Three focuses on the birth of Bahaullahs own revelation while He was imprisoned. Section Four surveys Bahaullahs ministry and Section Five examines Bahaullahs provisions for the extension of His authority over the affairs of His Faith through the appointment of His eldest son, Abdul-Baha.

Book Description
In a personal journey of remembrances, Gloria Jean Pinkney shows how she came to recognize the many miraculous events in her life. In her engaging voice, Ms. Pinkney narrates thirty-three short "tellings" and uses quotes from the Bible to frame each story. This heartfelt work offers an inspiring call for her readers to enter their own "Forest of Remembrance." As Clifton Taulbert writes in his wonderful foreword, "As we read, we will be challenged to become 'dear hearers' within our own daily lives. This book will help many to personalize and anticipate the joy of 'unselfish living.'" A book to be shared with the whole family, this spiritual memoir is also a family project. Ms. Pinkney's husband, Jerry, and two of their sons, Brian and Myles, provide illustrations, with each artist using a different medium.
