Book Description
This book systematically describes the development of manufacturing servitization in the Asia-Pacific region. It offers a practical and theoretical reference guide to the manufacturing companies in the Asia-Pacific region, which is now a major global manufacturing center. Servitization is a fairly recent trend in the manufacturing industry: some American and European manufacturing companies have successfully transformed to service oriented manufacturing companies over the past three decades, while Asian-Pacific region companies have only more recently begun to recognize the importance of servitization. But some Asia-Pacific region companies have been exploring approaches in the same direction of servitization without being aware of the concept. One unique aspect of this book is the fact that it takes into consideration the social and cultural influences of this region. It introduces companies within and beyond the region, as well as the academic world, to the current state of development of the Asia-pacific manufacturing industry and its servitization trend. This is the first book that focuses on this topic, one which is of great theoretical and practical importance.

Book Description
Hardbound. In this book, the mysteries of the new 'Asian definition of project finance' have been unravelled, the richness and complexities of the constantly-evolving efforts have been explored, and contrasts the Asian adapted definition with the basic model of the West. While the book reviews the past and outlines the future for project financing in Asia, the focus is on the 'premature present', a period of seven to eight years from the late '80's to 1996, when there were few successes and countless casualties. This interval in time has been sought to provide the reader, through a temporal window, a glimpse of what it was like in this 'Age of Arbitrage' on a project financing front, armed with neither a reliable legal/regulatory framework, nor an efficient pricing mechanism. The book journeys through the short-lived victories and the morale-breaking defeats, documenting the war of attrition as the remaining players survive to traverse down the road tow

Book Description
The traditional form of official development assistance (ODA) has assumed less importance. With more liberalized conditions fostering a more open economic environment in the developing countries, private resources and multilateral bank lending have assumed a leading role. This means that those countries not favouring open policies will be left behind while they rely on ODA as the only resource -- yet this resource is declining.Following the devastations caused by the 1997 Asian Currency Crisis, it is clear that coherent APEC guidance to create sufficiency in infrastructure is necessary. A reassessment of ODA for infrastructure is recommended while not demeaning the dependence of some poorer nations on the traditonal form of development assistance.
