Book Description
Bittersweet Journeys is a poetic anthology of my heart-felt experiences ranging in time from adolescence to the present. An experiment in "painting with words," it was written for the sheer delight of unfettered expression. My best poem, "The Sound of Madness," written in a state of despair induced by persistent and disturbing voicehearing, won second prize in a national poetry competition in 2010.

About the AuthorThe Authors name is Denny Reader, he was born in the West Midlands in 1982. He experienced in his late teens, what he describes as Spiritual experiences, which led him to a path of Inner Discovery and Spiritual exploration. He experimented with street drugs to reach Higher States of Consciousness, but whilst practicing a lot of fasting and meditation during these times and drawing closer to his 19th year, he began experiencing 'voices' in his head. This Psychosis increased and Denny experienced a 'massive' psychotic breakdown, going through intense periods of psychotic depression and general Schizophrenia. He was sectioned in 2001 for four months and was diagnosed with Paranoid Schizophrenia after his second stay in the local psychiatric asylum which happened to be exactly a year later in 2002. Denny continued to struggle with his condition with another stay in 2004, and then was given a dual diagnosis of Paranoid Schizophrenia and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Denny has written poetry since a child, yet has expressed himself through it mostly within the last ten years of his life, during being in Recovery. With the encouragement of local writers, he has focused much on writing poetry to express him self and aid recovery. This book is a collection of his poems throughout the last ten years of his life.

Book Description
BLACK ROSE; DYING is a book of dramatic and insightful poetry that was written through the eyes of a soldier who has been deployed to Iraq three times. Edward Val's poems are inspired by the emotion, passion, and drive he felt after being exposed to the horrors of war and the inspiration of bravery. The reflections revealed in this book of poems span the four seasons as they release trapped feelings and express hard-to-face truths. It is easy for soldiers who are exposed to so much devastation to view the world as a place of darkness, but moments of light penetrate briefly and powerfully, and that is what Val's profound poetry is made of. EDWARD VAL writes in order to release emotions and express himself. Black Rose; Dying was written over a two-year period while Val was mostly deployed in Iraq. Val is in the U.S. Army and is a full-time college student, and this book of poetry draws on what he has witnessed, both good and bad. Val grew up in Spring Hill, Florida, and is now stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Look forward to the author's next book, Of Tooth and Nail, the first installment in a three-volume fantasy novel series.

The collection of free verse poetry, haiku, and short stories delves into transcendent themes such as truth, beauty, and free will. Author Chandanie D. Hiralal explores the convergence and juxtaposition of apparent binaries like death and life, darkness and light. Although the themes may be dark at times, Hiralals word play infuses a touch of levity. Hiralal draws upon the Japanese language and Vedic teachings for inspiration. Mizu, meaning water in Japanese, reflects this influence and points to the primacy of nature in her work. Mizu They jump up and down. Like friends, they stand together. They die with the sun.
