Book Description
This Proceedings contains papers presented at the 2nd IFAC/CIGR International Workshop on 'Bio-Robotics, Information Technology and Intelligent Control for Bioproduction Systems' which was held at Sakai, Osaka, Japan, from November 25-26, 2000. The purpose of the "BIO-ROBOTICS II" workshop was to provide a forum for the presentation of new approaches and results in the study of bioproduction robots, including automated and autonomous machine systems with or without manipulators, information-oriented technology to deal with variability, and intelligence technology for bioproduction systems. The discussions at the workshop focussed on the development of new automated bioproduction systems and the commercialization of various robots. To realize automated bioproduction systems, such as cultivating a field, many kinds of sensing system are obviously required to describe or recognize complex objects, and similar applications are needed in many areas of bio-robotics research. Precision farming and greenhouse technology are new integrated applications that use a systems approach to manage the spatial and temporal variability that is inherent in bioproduction systems. The presentation, discussion and exchange of knowledge, experience and inspiration among the participants during the workshop should aid solutions on global issues such as food shortage, global warming, pollution, and ecosystem instability. These proceedings will also contribute to improving the quality of research and to widen the application fields of bio-robotics, information technology and intelligent control for Bioproduction Systems.

Author: GĂ©rard Morel
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 9780080442891
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 282
Book Description
Presents the findings of experts and practitioners from the major soft-computing themes Provides an overview of the theory and applications of IMS systems The Area of Intelligence in manufacturing has generated a considerable amount of interest occasionally verging on controversy, both in the research community and in the industrial sector. This proceedings looks at the broad manufacturing domain dealing with both technical and organizational issues, intelligent control is only part, albeit important, of optimal integration and control of intelligent techniques. The importance of creating a synergy of efforts aiming at efficient employment of intelligence in global technological development for manufacturing was recognized by the international IMS (intelligent manufacturing Systems) Initiative and is discussed in this proceedings volume.

Author: Sebastian Engell
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 9780080440941
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 406
Book Description
Before the Riders came to their remote valley the Yendri led a tranquil pastoral life. When the Riders conquered and enslaved them, only a few escaped to the forests. Rebellion wasn't the Yendri way; they hid, or passively resisted, taking consolation in the prophecies of their spiritual leader. Only one possessed the necessary rage to fight back: Gard the foundling, half-demon, who began a one-man guerrilla war against the Riders. His struggle ended in the loss of the family he loved, and condemnation from his own people. Exiled, he was taken as a slave by powerful mages ruling an underground kingdom. Bitterer and wiser, he found more subtle ways to earn his freedom. This is the story of his rise to power, his vengeance, his unlikely redemption and his maturation into a loving father--as well as a lord and commander of demon armies. Kage Baker, author of the popular and witty fantasy, The Anvil of the World, returns to that magical world for another story of love, adventure, and a fair bit of ironic humor. At the publisher's request, this title is being sold without Digital Rights Management software (DRM) applied.

Robot Control 2000 (SYROCO'00)
Author: Peter Kopacek
Publisher: Pergamon
ISBN:
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 402
Book Description
This Proceedings contains the papers presented at the sixth IFAC Symposium on Robot Control 2000 - SYROCO 00, held in Vienna, Austria, on 21- 23 September 2000. The contributions cover the whole field of robot control starting with the classical subjects like non-linear, robust and hybrid control, force and tracking control, modelling and identification, simulation and education, neutral and fizzy control. But new robot applications require new robot concepts and new control tasks. In consequence most of the contributions deal with mobile, intelligent robots and multiple robot systems but also new applications like disassembly. One of the fastest growing fields in the last three years is development and control of robots for entertainment, leisure and hobby. In four survey papers the state of the art in robot control and further developing trends were emphasised. Because the field of robotics is growing up today in smaller countries two presentations deal with robots in Brazil and Macedonia. The very important field of sensor fusion and an industrial view of future developments in robot control were also topics of survey papers.
