Book Description
This innovative, interdisciplinary book reconstructs the career of Genesis 1:28 ("Be fertile and increase, fill the earth and master it...") in Judaism and Christianity, from antiquity through the Reformation. Jeremy Cohen tracks the text through all the Jewish and Christian sources in which it figures significantly—in law, exegesis, homily, theology, mysticism, philosophy, and even vernacular poetry. In his view, the verse situates man and woman on a cosmic frontier, midway between the angelic and the bestial, charging them with singular responsibilities that bear directly on Jewish and Christian ideas of God's "chosen people."

Book Description
Be Fruitful, Multiply, and Take Dominion: A Pathway to Happiness and World PeaceIn the very first chapter of the Bible, Genesis 1:28 reveals the following: Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth."One can interpret this verse as follows: - "If you, my children, strive to become fruitful (i.e., the best you can be), if you build nurturing marital-families, and if you wisely steward and manage the physical world for the sake of your economic well-being, then, blessings will come. The blessings you receive will be directly connected to your ability to flourish in these three areas of life."In this book, I seek to explore the deeper layers that are hidden within this revelation. I wish to appreciate what such a world looks like. On my journey to understand, I was led down many thought-provoking pathways. For example, I found that people who embrace a three-blessings lifestyle, on average, live the happiest of lives. Also, I learned that this framework is possibly the only foundation upon which a world of peace can be built. Considering our history of blood-soaked wars, this, in itself, is a useful finding. I also discovered that when the majority of world citizens decide to live a three-blessings lifestyle, then we all will be united on the same path towards building a flourishing future for our nations-all the while knowing that social problems will diminish with every successive generation. If we are all seeking to become the best we can be, striving to build the best families that we can, and learning how to use the natural world for the mutual benefit of all, then human outcomes can be no better. Two questions then arise. "What does a three-blessings lifestyle look like?" and "Do enough citizens wish to embody its norms so that a world of peace, happiness, and co-prosperity can finally be realized?"

Book Description
Introduction In a world full of uncertainties and challenges, it's natural to seek stability and security. Many people believe that the only way to achieve this is by accumulating wealth and possessions. While financial prosperity is not necessarily a bad thing, it's important to understand that true abundance goes beyond material possessions. The Bible teaches us that God desires to bless us and increase us in all areas of life. God has created us to live a life of abundance and increase. From the very beginning, God commanded us to be fruitful and multiply, to fill the earth and subdue it. (Genesis 1:28) This is a promise of increase and prosperity that God has made to each and every one of us. However, many of us have experienced setbacks and challenges that have made it difficult to live a life of increase. We may have faced financial struggles, health issues, or personal difficulties that have hindered our progress and made it difficult to move forward. In "Unstoppable Increase," we explore the biblical principles of increase and prosperity, and we learn how we can overcome the obstacles that have held us back. Through scripture and real-life examples, we discover the power of faith, prayer, and obedience, and we learn how these principles can help us to achieve our goals and live a life of abundance. We will also explore the role of gratitude and generosity in our journey towards increase. We will learn how a heart of gratitude can open doors of opportunity and blessing, and we will discover how our generosity can be a powerful catalyst for increase in our lives and the lives of those around us. Moreover, we will hear from people who have experienced unstoppable increase in their own lives. We will learn from their stories and gain inspiration from their successes. Through their experiences, we will see that the principles of increase are not just theoretical, but are practical and effective in everyday life. This book is a call to live a life of increase and abundance, and to embrace the promises that God has made to us. It is a reminder that we serve a God of increase, and that His desire is for us to live a life of prosperity and blessing. We invite you to join us on this journey of faith, and we pray that this book will be a source of inspiration and encouragement as you pursue unstoppable increase in every area of your life.

Book Description
While children figure prominently in religious traditions, few books have directly explored the complex relationships between children and religion. This is the first book to examine the theme of children in major religions of the world. Each of six chapters, edited by world-class scholars, focuses on one religious tradition and includes an introduction and a selection of primary texts ranging from legal to liturgical and from the ancient to the contemporary. Through both the scholarly introductions and the primary sources, this comprehensive volume addresses a range of topics, from the sanctity of birth to a child's relationship to evil, showing that issues regarding children are central to understanding world religions and raising significant questions about our own conceptions of children today.
