A board of county commissioners has the authority to decrease the amount of an official's compensation as long as such action is not deemed to be an unreasonable or arbitrary action. Under the provisions of Article 3, section 5 of the Kansas Constitution, no member of the Supreme Court Nominating Commission shall, while he or she is a member, hold any other "public office" by appointment.
