Atomic Transition Probabilities for Upper Atmosphere Phenomena
Author: A. M. NAQVI
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 1
Book Description
The theory for the calculation of atomic transition probabilities is reviewed. Various useful formulae are given. The experimental and theoretical values by different authors are compared and listed for a number of transitions in hydrogen, lithium, nitrogen, oxygen (I and II), sodium, potassium, rubidium, and cesium. For several transitions for which previous experimental or theoretical results did not exist, values were obtained using the Coulomb approximation method of Bates and Damgaard (Phil. Trans. Roy. Soc. (London) A242, 101 (1949)). Probabilities of electric quadrupole and magnetic dipole transitions in NI, NII, OI and OII were also tabulated. (Author).

Pages : 97
Book Description
The results of theoretical calculations of radiative transition probabilities in positive ions of atomic nitrogen and oxygen are presented. Results of a theoretical multi-state impact parameter calculation for the cross section of the mutual neutralization reaction, H(+) + H( - ) yields H + H are given and compared with experimental data. Stellar Evolution, Stellar Explosions, and Galactic Chemical Evolution, Proceedings of the Second Oak Ridge Symposium on Atomic and Nuclear Astrophysics, Oak Ridge, Tennessee, 2-6 December 1997
Author: Mezzacappa
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 9780750305556
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 768
Book Description
Bringing together atomic physicists, nuclear physicists, astronomers, and astrophysicists from around the world, Stellar Evolution, Stellar Explosions, and Galactic Chemical Evolution focuses on stellar atmospheres; stellar evolution; stellar explosions, such as novae, supernovae, and x-ray bursters; pregalactic and galactic chemical evolution; the interstellar medium; and atomic and nuclear data for astrophysics. Consisting of invited papers, invited posters, and contributed posters, this volume covers observations, modeling, and atomic and nuclear physics foundations, including data, experiments, and theories, that are essential to understanding these important astrophysical objects and events. It documents a confluence of atomic physics, nuclear physics, and astrophysics and a confluence of data from atomic and nuclear physics experiments from current-generation astronomical instruments-all have helped advance the frontier in our understanding of the universe.
