Book Description
Excerpt from Atlas and Epitome of Traumatic Fractures and Dislocations An American edition of this "Atlas of Fractures And Dislocations," translated from the fifth German edition, is needed and will be welcomed by both students and practitioners. Fractures and dislocations cannot be properly taught nor understood without illustrations showing the visible external deformity, the X-ray shadow, the anatomic preparation, and the method of dressing. These are as necessary here as with anatomy. The book of Professor Helferich, better than any yet published, answers the requirements for illustrations. We have much to thank the author for. Such a splendid collection of illustrations is possible only in a very large clinic, and represents time, labor, and great care. The work has been reviewed with pleasure and profit. Book Description
Demonstrating current management techniques for traumatic fractures and dislocations of the upper extremity, this atlas utilizes a practical, how-to structure, discussing philosophy, approach, patient positioning, prepping, draping, and surgical techniques for each type of injury. Generously illustrated with intraoperative photos, the chapters of this atlas are arranged by anatomic location, from the clavicle and shoulder down to the fingers, with each chapter briefly describing the thought processes involved in choosing surgical interventions and applied anatomy approaches, fixation selections, and techniques. Actual case examples, cadaver photos and plentiful radiographs illustrate the text for a strongly visual presentation, and a list of "Eglsederisms" - pithy bits of advice for residents and veteran surgeons alike - set the stage for a highly demonstrative resource for orthopedic and trauma surgeons, residents and fellows.

Book Description
Excerpt from Atlas of Traumatic Fractures and Luxations: With a Brief Treatise This Atlas and Treatise are intended to aid students entering upon that important field of surgery which embraces fractures and luxations, and to be a useful book of reference to physicians in their practice. I have endeavored to furnish a work of practical utility, and at the same time to facilitate the comprehension of the questions arising, especially as regards anatomical details. The first instigation came from the publishers, whose proposition I gladly accepted. On the one hand, I was pleased to utilize in this connection the specimens and drawings which I had accumulated in the course of years; on the other hand, it appeared to me desirable to aid the more general spread of useful knowledge in a department where much harm can be done, and which, at present in particular, is of great importance to every practitioner by reason of novel social arrangements. I would lay special stress upon the fact that this book is by no means intended to take the place of studies at the clinic or in special courses, but is to form a supplement to the demonstrations and explanations of the instructor.
