Excerpt from Annual Report of the Officers of the Town of Mount Washington, Massachusetts: For the Year Ending December 31st, 1936 The receipts for licenses issued by the board of selectmen were checked with the record of licenses granted, and the payments to the treasurer were verified. The books and accounts of the treasurer were examined and checked in detail. The recorded receipts were checked with the records of the departments collecting money for the town and with the other sources from which money was paid into the town treasury, while pay ments were compared with the orders issued by the board of selectmen. The cash book additions were verified for the period covered by the audit, and the cash balance September 2, 1936, was proved by a recon ciliation of the bank balance with a statement received from the bank and by actual count of cash in the office.
