Book Description
In March 2020, I scored a new job, turned forty, and the world shut down. I was out of work for about six weeks. About a month or so after returning to work, I learned that I was twelve weeks pregnant! While yes, the pregnancy was blissful, my job made existing while pregnant pretty damn difficult. In the midst of fighting for respect and a better position in the company, I started writing poems while commuting to and from work on the train. Later on, I started writing little musings to go along with the poems. These writings (and soon art pieces) continued after I resigned from that company to work for another who turned out to not be that much better about me being a new mother to a tiny baby. The little one was born by the completion of these pieces, but the anger that accompanied the treatment I received remained. The result is this collection.

Book Description
The Shaping of an "Angry" Black Woman is the debut book of poetry by author Tamara Woods. Written over 15 years, each poem challenges conventional society and is poised with acerbic, witty, and abrasive language that is reflective in the often discussed isotope of society, that being the "Angry" Black Woman. In the words of Tamara herself: "I wore anger like it was my favorite pair of Chucks, giving people what they wanted. A minstrel show played with black emotions rather than a shoe-polished face. This brings around an unspoken rule: The expectation of anger renders my anger invalid as it is my starting point, so it's not that important. This collection of poems takes a look at life, written over a fifteen year span of mine. It is flawed oddities, beauty foiled with ugliness. We are all more than just angry. Women are more complicated than just that."

Book Description
This is a collection of poems about the racism I encountered during more than six decades and how I didn't let it sidetrack my successes. I introduce the poems by telling of an encounter I had in kindergarten with a teacher who had never personally interacted with a person of color. This experience has stayed with me my entire life and often influenced my response to racist encounters. Rev. Sherril Willis had several individual poems previously published. This is her third collection of published poems. Her other books are entitled Space Inside the Night and Lavender Rose. Sherril retired from public school teaching after thirty-seven years. She worked as a third and fourth grade teacher, reading specialist, and math, writing and reading interventionist. She is also an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ. In her retirement she enjoys preaching, quilting, reading, writing and kayaking.

Book Description
The Angry Black woman is so much more than a name for this book but rather a look into how a woman who once was at peace could be turned into someone angry and viewed as such. After her first Poetry book titled "Silent Tears", Jaslynn's tears turn into hurt and anger from unfair treatment and a broken heart, like so many of us have experienced. Here you will take another look into her life of pain and see her transform it into her power. "I deserve happiness and I'm going to have it" Jaslynn says. This is not only for anyone that has anger on their heart, but also for anyone who needs to understand that life is what we make it, why not make yours a masterpiece?
