Book Description
Analysis of rumen liquor for fraction of VFA’s enzymatic activity of various metabolites and estimation of rumen fluid volume and its flow rate are covered in depth. It was followed by estimation of anti-nutritional / toxic factors in various un-conventional feeds using HPLC / Spectrophotometer, detail analysis of milk and body condition scoring for dairy cattle are included as assessment of these parameters are important in Ruminant Nutrition Research. Necessary practical work is included; the exhaustive details have been avoided, since the manual is primarily meant for postgraduate scholars, teachers, scientists and feed industry personnel use.

Book Description
This book entitled "Livestock Nutrition: Analytical Techniques" lucidly explain recommended and standard methods of analysis. Latest methods of Bomb calorimetry, Isothermal, Adiabatic and Ballistic, non-protein nitrogen fractions, oxalic acid in feeds and fodders, cyanides in plants, nitrate and nitrite in forages, thioglucoside in rapeseed meal, free gossypol in cottonseed meal and aflatoxins in feed have been explained in a simple and illustrative way. Additional methods of desoxyribonuleic acid (DNA) and ribonucleic acid (RNA) analysis in animal tissues, non-esterified fatty acid, total lipids in serum or plasma Iipase, blood glucose, cholesterol and urea, biuret method for protein content in wheat, fractions of total lipids eg. cholesterol, HDL and LDL cholesterol are given in a very simple way, along with examples of calculations of results. Method of urea estimation in animal feed as an adulterant is described in detail. This book provides essential information for undergraduate and postgraduate degree students in Food Science and Technology. Animal Nutrition, Animal Products Technology, Animal Feed Technology and Foods Nutrition (F&N).

Book Description
Disturbances in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract caused by internal and external influences can cause large economic losses in both the pig and poultry industries. Traditionally, diseases and conditions of the GI tract that can cause losses have been controlled by antimicrobial compounds administered in the feed and (or) water, such as antibiotics, coccidiostats, zootechnical feed additives and trace elements such as zinc and copper. However, legislation and rulings in various parts of the world coupled with a growing sentiment to reduce the use of these compounds in the intensive livestock industries have caused a reassessment of measures to influence GI tract structure and function ('gut health'), and have caused unparalleled interest in alternative strategies (genetic, dietary, management, environmental) to effectively manage the GI tract under conditions of external and internal challenge. Despite the wide array of products and strategies available to the pig and poultry industries that influence 'gut health', a term in itself that is often misunderstood and misinterpreted, it is important that the industries continue to investigate and understand the underpinning sciences that influence GI tract structure and function, especially at critical life stages. Ultimately, the cost-benefit of adopting such practices to influence 'gut health' requires consideration.

Book Description
From alpha-galactosidases to xylanases, Enzymes in Farm Animal Nutrition provides a comprehensive guide to all aspects associated with enzyme-supplemented animal feeds. It details the history and size of the feed enzyme market, before describing how feed enzymes are manufactured and employed in monogastric, aqua and ruminant diets. This new edition explores considerable advances such as the use of enzymes in fish and shrimp diets, new understanding of how phytases function in the animal, NSPase research and enzymes' extended use in ruminant markets. Covering biochemistry, enzymology and characteristics relevant to animal feed use, this book forms a valuable resource for academics and students of animal nutrition and production, as well as professionals in the animal feed industry.
