Proceedings of SECON 2020
Author: Kaustubh Dasgupta
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3030551156
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 959
Book Description
This book gathers peer-reviewed contributions presented at the 1st International Conference on Structural Engineering and Construction Management (SECON’20), held in Angamaly, Kerala, India, on 14-15 May 2020. The meeting served as a fertile platform for discussion, sharing sound knowledge and introducing novel ideas on issues related to sustainable construction and design for the future. The respective contributions address various aspects of numerical modeling and simulation in structural engineering, structural dynamics and earthquake engineering, advanced analysis and design of foundations, BIM, building energy management, and technical project management. Accordingly, the book offers a valuable, up-to-date tool and essential overview of the subject for scientists and practitioners alike, and will inspire further investigations and research.

Creep and Shrinkage of Self-consolidating Concrete (SCC).
Author: Benoit Cordoba
Publisher:
ISBN: 9781109819939
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 126
Book Description
Self-consolidating concrete (SCC) has been used increasingly over the last two decades, especially in the pre-cast concrete industry because of its ability to consolidate without vibration even in congested areas. The development of SCC mixture design has been driven mostly by private companies who desired to utilize SCC's advantages and consequently there exists limited public information regarding the performance of SCC mixtures. The goal of this research is to establish the creep and shrinkage properties of several SCC mixtures. During the course of the research, a new testing apparatus was developed to correct inadequacies of the established measuring apparatus. The development of this new apparatus proved partially successful and several improvements are proposed. The creep and shrinkage data collected were not of sufficient quality and quantity to allow for a comprehensive evaluation of the mixtures. Further improvements to the test methodology are proposed.
