What methods should the Shaker Heights Fire Department consider to facilitate a reduction in re-inspections? Descriptive research methods including literature review, questionnaire and interviews revealed that viable methods do exist for Shaker Heights to reduce the number of re-inspections needed to gain code compliance. Recommendations include a) implementing a pre-inspection program so that businesses can prepare for successful inspections; b) implementing a self re-inspection program to provide businesses a means of reporting when they have corrected code deficiencies; c) establish a fee schedule for re-inspections and; d) enhance training for fire inspectors.
