Book Description
Abstract: Rational runoff coefficients have been derived for seven combinations of land use and treatment on single-crop agricultural watersheds near Coshocton, Ohio. Runoff coefficient is the ratio of peak runoff rate to rainfall rate. The rational runoff formula has been employed to predict peak runoff rates from twelve experimental mixed-cover watersheds in Ohio, Wisconsin, Nebraska, and Virginia. These peak rates were estimated using the derived runoff coefficients and five different methods of estimating time of concentration. The computed peak runoff rates have been evaluated against runoff records of the watersheds. The SCS-Curve-No. method of estimating time of concentration gave relatively better results.

Book Description
Runoff coefficients for the rational runoff formula far seven combinations of cover and cultural practice were derived from single-crop watersheds at Coshocton, Ohio. The rational formula, using the derived coefficients, was evaluated by peak runoff rate frequency curves constructed for fourteen gaged watersheds in Ohio, Wisconsin, Nebraska, and Texas.

Book Description
The book provides a comprehensive insight into watersheds and modeling of the hydrological processes in the watersheds. It covers the concepts of watershed hydrology and watershed management in depth. The basic types, of soil erosion and its measurement and estimation of runoff and soil loss from the small and large watersheds are discussed. Recent advances in the watershed management like the application of remote sensing and GIS and hydrological models are a part of the book. The book serve as a guide for professional and competitive examinations for undergraduate students of Agriculture and Agricultural Engineering and graduate students of Soil Science, Soil and Water Engineering, Agricultural Physics, Hydrology and Watershed Management.

Book Description
Open-Channel Hydraulics, originally published in 1959, deals with the design for flow in open channels and their related structures. Covering both theory and practice, it attempts to bridge the gap that generally exists between the two. Theory is introduced first and is then applied to design problems. In many cases the application of theory is illustrated with practical examples. Theory is frequently simplified by adopting theoretically less rigorous treatments with sound concepts, by avoiding use of advanced mathematical manipulations, or by replacing such manipulations with practical numerical procedures. To facilitate understanding of the subject matter, the treatment is mostly based on the condition of one- or two-dimensional flow. The book deals mainly with American practice but also includes related information from many countries throughout the world. Material is divided into five main sections for an orderly and logical treatment of the subject: Basic Principles. Uniform Flow, Varied Flow, Rapidly Varied Flow, and Unsteady Flow. There are 67 illustrative examples, 282 illustrations, 319 problems, and 810 references. This classic textbook was the first English-language book on the subject in two decades. Open-Channel Hydraulics is a valuable text for students of engineering mechanics. hydraulics. civil. agricultural. sanitary. and mechanical engineering, and a helpful compendium for practicing engineers. Dr. Ven Te Chow was a Professor of Hydraulic Engineering and led the hydraulic engineering research and teaching programs at the University of Illinois. Through many years of experience as a teacher, engineer, researcher, writer. lecturer, and consultant, he became an internationally recognized leader in the fields of hydraulics, hydrology and hydraulic engineering. Dr. Ven Te Chow authored two technical books and more than 60 articles and papers in scientific an engineering magazines and journals. He was a member of lAHR, ASCE, AGU, AAAS, SEE, and Sigma Xi, and had been Chairman of the American Geophysical Union's Permanent Research Committee on Runoff.

Book Description
Excerpt from A Method for Estimating Volume and Rate of Runoff in Small Watersheds Ven Te Chow has described many methods which have been used for determining waterway areas and the design of drainage control structures in small watersheds Some of these methods have been used by the Soil Conservation Service (scs) for estimating peak discharge rates. These include the rational method (ramser curves after C. E. Ramser), the Cook method after H. L. Cook, the modified Cook or ZW method by M. M. Culp and others, and the method by Victor Mockus and others described in the National Engineering Handbook, Section h, an inservice handbook of scs, hereinafter referred to as neh-h. Scs has used these methods primarily for the design of measures for individual farms and ranches. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
