In December 1910, a wealthy young woman, thought to be sheltered and above reproach, goes missing shortly after being seen in broad daylight on Fifth Avenue in New York City. The police are called in and begin to question those closest to her, only to have her father, a wealthy manufacturer, insist it must be foul play and that his daughter was on good terms with her entire family. Likewise, he claims that though she was in her mid-20s and in the prime of life, she had no serious romantic attachments. The mother tearfully backs these claims up. While the story was certainly fit for a gripping thriller, it was all too true for Dorothy Arnold and her family. Arnold was a young, well-known socialite whose disappearance was front page news on the East Coast in the early 20th century. By the mid-1930s, Amelia Earhart was one of the most famous women in the world. The American pilot had set a number of altitude and distance records, but she wanted to attempt a circumnavigation of the world. After an ill-fated first attempt, Earhart and Fred Noonan set off on another attempt, creating one of the 20th century's most enduring mysteries. Earhart and Noonan were to land on Howland Island, 1700 miles southwest of Hawaii, but radio transmissions ceased between the plane and authorities on the ground the morning of July 2, 1937. Earhart and Noonan had disappeared, never to be seen again, despite one of the nation's largest and costliest manhunts to date. The mysterious case of actress and dancer Jean Spangler remains one of the most enduring such riddles in the annals of Hollywood crime. The nature of the case itself still evokes a public fascination many decades after her disappearance. Spangler found herself in southern California as a beautiful actress and dancer trying to land movie roles, a common story among the many young women gravitating to American entertainment centers from more conservative towns and cities. As a high-profile celebrity event, Spangler's case does not match the sensationalism attributed to figures such as Amelia Earhart, who sought to circumnavigate the globe by air, the political importance of union boss Jimmy Hoffa, or the fate of Judge Crater, a likely victim of the New York underworld. However, the Spangler story differs in that it carries no dearth of rational possibilities or relevant clues with which to accommodate all of the leading theories. On November 24, 1971, there was little to suggest that the skies above the Pacific Northwest would produce one of the greatest mysteries in American history and a criminal investigation that is still ongoing over 40 years later. However, on the day before Thanksgiving, a man calling himself Dan Cooper boarded Northwest Orient Flight 305 from Portland to Seattle and sat in the rear of the cabin. The identity of the thief who ransomed hostages and then jumped out of a plane with the money that night remains unknown. In fact, his ultimate fate is a mystery, and over 40 years after he jumped out of that plane, the FBI doesn't know much more than it did in 1971. Jimmy Hoffa, once described by Bobby Kennedy as the second most powerful man in America, was a union boss who evoked both respect and fear, and he continues to be a legendary figure who often crops up in conversation and media over 40 years after his disappearance. While it was an open secret that Hoffa had shady connections, the success of his leadership allowed supporters to overlook them. To this day, authorities are still searching for him (or presumably his remains), having been overloaded with false and dead-end leads throughout the decades.

Book Description
Benjamin Franklin once said nothing in this world is set on stone but two things: death and taxes. Some evade taxpaying, but no one really gets to escape it completely. And the same goes with death. They are the two most inevitable difficulties one can encounter. Its burden is real and whether you are indirectly and directly affected, it has the capacity to bring you down. People die of different causes. When you ask someone how they want to die, many would say, "I want in my sleep. I want to when I am grey and old. I want to die in the time when I can say that I have my life." Of course that is the ideal setting for death; and people do not get to choose who they expire in this world. It happens. Some people are merely crossing the street, totally unaware that a speeding vehicle is oncoming and about to bring them to the grave. Some people find out too late, and they come face-to-face with death just as soon as they discover that they are terminally ill. Some people die too and it's unfortunate because even before they get to actually live, they discover they do not deserve it. In whatever context, death is sad-and then there's murder. Here is a preview of what you'll learn: - The Murder of Black Dahlia - The Splendid Cast of William Desmond Taylor's Murder - The Murder of 6-Year Old JonBenet Ramsey - The Disappearance and Death of Jimmy Hoffa - The Murder of the Grimes Sisters - The Murder of Amber Rene Hagerman - The Unsolved Mystery of Colonel Robert H. Hogan's Death - Murder of the Beautiful Cigar Girl, Mary Rogers - The Shooting of Tupac Shakur - Murder by the Zodiac Killer

Book Description
(www.canammissing.com)This is the third "Missing 411" book researching facts of people who have vanished in remote locations of the world. "Missing 411-North America and Beyond" is the first edition that discusses missing people and relevant facts from five countries (Australia, England, France, Iceland and Indonesia) outside of North America and examines the parallels between the cases. The book also includes a multitude of new stories from North America. There is a continuing trend of clusters of missing people in United States National Parks. The National Park Service has continued with their policy of failing to keep ledgers, track or otherwise document lists of missing people inside their parks and monuments. This edition has cases from Florida, Texas, Hawaii and forty other states. There are new clusters of missing people from Sequoia and Mount Rainier National Park, Three Sisters Wilderness (OR) and Adirondacks (NY). Canada has missing cases from six provinces that are documented. This new book brings further clarity to the missing person issue by examining multiple disappearances of people in small-confined areas and exposing the similarities of their case. David Paulides also exposes a series of coed disappearances that date back to the early 1900's, which have unusual facts surrounding their case."Missing 411-North America and Beyond" is the largest and most comprehensive of the trilogy, 472 pages. The Missing 411 series builds upon itself. It is recommended that you read "Missing 411-Western United States" first, then the eastern version and then "North America and Beyond." There is a historical aspect to this issue and there are common elements that run through the disappearances. ***********************************************One of the early reviews of "Missing 411-North America and Beyond" was written by New York Times Best Selling author Whitley Strieber:David Paulides has shined a light onto one of the greatest and most disturbing mysteries of our time: the simple and awful fact that people disappear, especially in our national parks, and little effort is made to find them, let alone inform the public about the danger.Even when massive searches are mounted, and people are found, the events surrounding their loss and recovery are often far beyond logical explanation. This is the most comprehensive and expertly presented series of books on the subject ever written, and the latest volume, which includes stories from five countries, is sobering, chilling and far too well researched to ignore. Essential reading.Whitley StrieberNew York Times Best Selling Author***********************************************

Gone Forever: True Police Stories of People Lost in America... Claim Your FREE Books Each Week With This Book! Rarely when we think about danger or our chances of being harmed do we think about the people that we know. Most of the time, we do not think that the people we work with, those that work for us, or those that we are associated with would ever cause us harm, however, this is what actually happens frequently. As you read this book, you will begin to see just how often it does happen. None of the cases in this book have ever been solved, but when you look at the evidence that will be presented to you, chances are that you are going to come to the same conclusion that the police have, most of these people have gone missing at the hands of someone they knew. On top of this, because these people seemed to vanish from the face of the earth, no one has been held accountable for their disappearances. Their families have not gotten to lay them to rest and still mourn their loss as they have been unable to fully grieve not knowing if the person that they love is still out there or if they have passed from this life. While these are quite intriguing stories, they are heartbreaking as well. As you read them, you are reading about experiences that families have gone through, true stories of real terror as parents found out that their child was missing, as children found out that their parents were gone, and as friends found out those that they cared for had simply disappeared...
