Book Description
Inspired by real events, THE APOCALYPSE OF MARLON BRANDO puts a spotlight on the Apocalypse Now filmset in the Philippine jungle in the fall of 1976. The book delves deep into the conversations and conflicts between Marlon Brando and the film's producer, Francis Coppola, as they mete out Marlon's portrayal of Colonel Walter Kurtz, as well as formulate the plot and storyline of the epic feature with the intention that the movie not only entertains, but enlightens the world to the point of bringing a permanent end to armed conflict, and eventually even win a Nobel Prize. In the meantime, the jungle and the long process of filming the mysterious, much delayed and over budget motion picture lead Marlon into the deep, dark recesses of his mind, a place teaming with the ghosts, skeletons and demons of his many past lives and movie roles.

Book Description
The beginning of the end. The Apocalypse. A nuclear fallout wiped out every living thing on the planet, except for a few thousand of us who took shelter in underground bunkers across the globe. Now, after thirteen long years, we were finally able to return to the topside to begin to rebuild. We thought we were alone. We were never more wrong. Before the fallout, scientists had worked on creating an anti-radiation vaccine (ARV). The first two attempts failed, but despite the incomplete tests and results, the government approved and distributed the third serum to the masses in an effort to aid those who had no shelter. It worked, keeping those who remained on the topside alive, but it also altered and mutated them. This new and infectious threat had completely outnumbered us. Now, we not only had to rebuild our planet. We would have to fight for it. My name is Abigail Park. I'm seventeen, and this is my story.

These pioneering studies of personal eschatology in the Jewish and Christian apocalypses, including those neglected apocalypses which focus on life after death, make an important contribution to understanding ideas and images of the hereafter in early Judaism and Christianity.

Book Description
Transcendence in general and transformation in particular have long been established as key motifs in apocalypses. The transformation of a seer during a heavenly journey is found commonly in such esoteric apocalypses as I Enoch. No heavenly journey occurs in the apocalypses treated here. Rather, symbolic women figures--"ladies" in the classical sense--who are associated with God's city or Tower, undergo transformation at key points in the action. The surface structures of Joseph and Aseneth, 4 Ezra, the Apocalypse and The Shepherd of Hermas are traced, and the crucial transformation episodes are located within each structure. Transformation of figures which represent God's people points to the significance of identitiy within the apocalyptic perspective. Earlier analyses have demonstrated that the apocalyptic perspective urges the reader to consider life from a different stance in time and in space ("temporal" and "spatial" axes). The present analysis suggests that the apocalypse also charts its revelations along an "axis of identity" so that the reader is invited to become, as it were, someone more in tune with the mysteries he or she is viewing. Of special interest is the treatment of the increasingly well-known romance Joseph and Aseneth alongside apocalypses, a parallel which is fruitful because of the curious visionary sequence, closely related to apocalypse in content and form, which is found in the inner centre of that work.

Book Description
A new selection of foundational works from the influential philosopher who developed the theory of mimetic desire Why do humans have such a remarkable capacity for conflict? From ancient foundational myths to the modern era, the visionary thinker Rene Girard identified the constant, competing desires at the heart of our existence - desires that we copy from others, igniting a contagious violence. This remarkable and accessible new selection of Girard's work shows him as a writer for our times, as he ranges over human imitation and rivalry, herd behaviour, scapegoating and how our violent longings play out in stories, from Shakespeare to religion. 'The explosion of social media, the resurgence of populism, and the increasing virulence of reciprocal violence all suggest that the contemporary world is becoming more and more recognizably "Girardian" in its behaviour' The New York Review of Books Edited with an Introduction by Cynthia L.
