Die Ergebnisse zeigen u.a., dass Institutionen wie Friedensabkommen Opportunitätsstrukturen für Rebellenparteien prägen und zu Pfadabhängigkeiten führen und dass demokratischere Wahlen die Etablierung solcher Parteien eher verhindern.
