Book Description
In this compilation, the authors begin by highlighting the recent developments in asymmetric 1,4- and 1,2- additions to α, β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds. The recent finding of Cu (I)-catalyzed asymmetric 1,2-addition of Grignard reagents to α, β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds, as well as aromatic ketones, has categorically revolutionized catalytic asymmetric reactions. This compilation also aims to use the well-known coordination preference of zinc in phthalocyanine and porphyrin ligands in correlation with supramolecular systems. The light-absorption process in dye-sensitized solar cells is studied using the time-dependent density functional theory. In recent years, a series of investigations on detonation wave formation in acetylene have been published. In these studies, it was shown that the formation of detonation proceeds entirely due to the energy released during the condensation of carbon nanoparticles during the growth of poly-aromatic hydrocarbons. The results of these studies are summarized and practical applications are discussed. The authors discuss aromatic amines, derivatives of aromatic hydrocarbons containing an amino group/an amine group/nitrogen atom in their structures. These compounds represent one of the most important classes of industrial and environmental chemicals. Three groups have been studied: monocyclic, polycyclic, and heterocyclic aromatic amines, which are used as intermediates in azo dye manufacturing, pigments, drugs, antibiotics, antidepressants, pesticides, and other industrial products. In the closing study, the GC-MS/MS method has been developed for the determination and quantification of 35 multiclass pesticide residues in chili samples. Pesticides were selected from different families including organochlorines, organophosphorus, carbamates, pyrethroids, triazines, triazoles, and pyrazoles. The QuEChERS-dSPE method was used for the extraction of pesticide residue.

Book Description
Advances in Chemistry Research. Volume 62 first provides information related to the synthesis, morphology, crystal structure, and porosity of bentonite and bentonite/magnetite powders. Following this, the authors discuss carbon tetrachloride, a clear, colourless, volatile and very stable chlorinated hydrocarbon with a non-polar nature, making it an excellent solvent.Recent research on the applications of hydrogen peroxide as oxidizing and reducing agent is presented, as well as its application in biocatalysis, as signaling molecule, and in nanochemistry. The mode of action hydrogen peroxide induces in yeast apoptosis is also addressed, including overexpression of apoptosis inducing factor homologue proteins.Additionally, this compilation describes the recent advances concerning the use of hydrogen peroxide in heteropolyacid-catalyzed oxidation reactions of terpenic alcohols, which are renewable origin compounds whose oxidation provides aldehydes and epoxides.Diamines, organic compounds with two amino groups, are described. In one study, different diamines are synthesized with complex formulas used in the preparation of different thermally stable polymers.A few diamines used in developing thin-film polyamide composite membranes are reviewed. The concluding study is focused on gas hydrates, mixtures of light gases such as methane, ethane or carbon dioxide, and water molecules under a special temperature and pressure condition, forming a liquid-like material.

Book Description
Plant polyphenols are secondary metabolites that constitute one of the most common and widespread groups of natural products. They express a large and diverse panel of biological activities including beneficial effects on both plants and humans. Many polyphenols, from their structurally simplest representatives to their oligo/polymeric versions (also referred to as vegetable tannins), are notably known as phytoestrogens, plant pigments, potent antioxidants, and protein interacting agents. Sponsored by the scholarly society Groupe Polyphénols, this publication, which is the fifth volume in this highly regarded Recent Advances in Polyphenol Research series, is edited by Kumi Yoshida, Véronique Cheynier and Stéphane Quideau. They have once again, like their predecessors, put together an impressive collection of cutting-edge chapters written by expert scientists, internationally respected in their respective field of polyphenol sciences. This Volume 5 highlights some of the latest information and opinion on the following major research topics about polyphenols: • Chemistry, physicochemistry & materials science • Biosynthesis, genetic & metabolic engineering • Plant & ecosystem, lignocellulosic biomass • Food, nutrition & health • Natural medicine & Kampo • Tannins & their functions Chemists, biochemists, plant scientists, pharmacognosists and pharmacologists, biologists, ecologists, food scientists and nutritionists will all find this book an invaluable resource. Libraries in all universities and research institutions where these disciplines are studied and taught should have copies on their bookshelves.

Book Description
Advances in Biophysical Chemistry, Volume 5, provides reviews of important topics in physical and structural biochemistry. The volume begins with a review of the chemical reactivity of DNA and its relationship to the dynamic nature of DNA conformation and its dependence on base sequence. The underlying chemistry has become extremely important to many researchers who use a host of chemical "footprinting" techniques to study biologically relevant complexes of DNA. This is followed by separate chapters that cover an innovative application of fluorescence energy transfer to investigate the dynamics of complex glycopeptides; the NMR of cations which bind to DNA, providing a picture of DNA conformation and dynamics which is complementary to that provided by 1H NMR spectroscopy; the use of NMR to study electron transfer reactions between cytochrome c peroxidase and cytochrome c; methods for analysis of data on O2 binding by hemoglobin; and experimental methods for obtaining data on protein association.
