Reviewing European Union Accession
Author: Tom Hashimoto
Publisher: Martinus Nijhoff Publishers
ISBN: 9004352074
Category : Law
Languages : en
Pages : 348
Book Description
The year 2017 has been an uneasy one for the EU, with so-called Brexit on the horizon and the rise of populist euroskepticism in a number of Member States. This year, with the tenth anniversary of the Romanian and Bulgarian accession to the Union, is a good year to pause and reflect over the life and future of the Union. In this work, we envision the next decade with Europe 2020 strategy and review the fruits of the 2004 accession in Central and Eastern Europe. What has the Union achieved? Which policy areas are likely to change and how? How successful, and by what measure, has the accession of the 10 Member States in 2004 been? Reviewing European Union Accession addresses a wide range of issues, deliberately without any thematic constraints, in order to explore EU enlargement from a variety of perspectives, both scientific and geographical, internal and external. In contrast to the major works in this field, we highlight the interrelated, and often unexpected, nature of the integration process – hence the subtitle, unexpected results, spillover effects and externalities.

Pages : 298
Book Description
Cilji avtorjevega zgodovinskega iskanja in spraševanja so pot v tranzicijo, vstopanje Slovenije v različne mednarodne integracije, makroekonomska stabilizacija, privatizacija in prestrukturiranje gospodarstva.

Cyber Conflict
Author: Daniel Ventre
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 1118562747
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 264
Book Description
Today, cyber security, cyber defense, information warfare and cyber warfare issues are among the most relevant topics both at the national and international level. All the major states of the world are facing cyber threats and trying to understand how cyberspace could be used to increase power. Through an empirical, conceptual and theoretical approach, Cyber Conflict has been written by researchers and experts in the fields of cyber security, cyber defense and information warfare. It aims to analyze the processes of information warfare and cyber warfare through historical, operational and strategic perspectives of cyber attack. It is original in its delivery because of its multidisciplinary approach within an international framework, with studies dedicated to different states – Canada, Cuba, France, Greece, Italy, Japan, Singapore, Slovenia and South Africa – describing the state’s application of information warfare principles both in terms of global development and “local” usage and examples. Contents 1. Canada’s Cyber Security Policy: a Tortuous Path Toward a Cyber Security Strategy, Hugo Loiseau and Lina Lemay. 2. Cuba: Towards an Active Cyber-defense, Daniel Ventre. 3. French Perspectives on Cyber-conflict, Daniel Ventre. 4. Digital Sparta: Information Operations and Cyber-warfare in Greece, Joseph Fitsanakis. 5. Moving Toward an Italian Cyber Defense and Security Strategy, Stefania Ducci. 6. Cyberspace in Japan’s New Defense Strategy, Daniel Ventre. 7. Organization and Financing of Public Health Services in Europe
Author: Centers of Disease Control
Publisher: World Health Organization
ISBN: 9289051701
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 148
Book Description
What are public health services? Countries across Europe understand what they are or what they should include differently. This study describes the experiences of nine countries detailing the ways they have opted to organize and finance public health services and train and employ their public health workforce. It covers England France Germany Italy the Netherlands Slovenia Sweden Poland and the Republic of Moldova and aims to give insights into current practice that will support decision-makers in their efforts to strengthen public health capacities and services. Each country chapter captures the historical background of public health services and the context in which they operate; sets out the main organizational structures; assesses the sources of public health financing and how it is allocated; explains the training and employment of the public health workforce; and analyses existing frameworks for quality and performance assessment. The study reveals a wide range of experience and variation across Europe and clearly illustrates two fundamentally different approaches to public health services: integration with curative health services (as in Slovenia or Sweden) or organization and provision through a separate parallel structure (Republic of Moldova). The case studies explore the context that explain this divergence and its implications. This study is the result of close collaboration between the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies and the WHO Regional Office for Europe Division of Health Systems and Public Health. It accompanies two other Observatory publications Organization and financing of public health services in Europe and The role of public health organizations in addressing public health problems in Europe: the case of obesity alcohol and antimicrobial resistance (both forthcoming).
