Current Problems in Prevention of Fatigue
Author: Horace John Grover
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Materials
Languages : en
Pages : 28
Book Description
The Defense Metals Information Center conducted a brief survey of the present state of knowledge about fatigue with wide coverage to applications and with particular emphasis on means of early detection of fatigue damage. The survey has excluded consideration of reports of proprietary interest and of reports with security classification. However, it has included information from various branches of the U.S. Army, the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Air Force, and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. The results of such considerations as have been possible are described in the following pages with the objectives of: (1) Delineating the current state of knowledge; (2) Indicating some of the current research toward increasing this knowledge; and (3) Pointing out areas where further work seems desirable. (Author).

Bibliography on the Fatigue of Materials, Components and Structures
Author: J. Y. Mann
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 1483191141
Category : Reference
Languages : en
Pages : 520
Book Description
Bibliography on the Fatigue of Materials, Components and Structures, Volume 4: 1966 - 1969 presents the publications relevant to the study of materials science, particularly fatigue. The selection presents materials that cover fixed and mobile structures for use on land, sea and air; pressure vessels and nuclear reactors; mechanical components; and surgical implants. The publications presented tackle the developments in technological processes, evaluation of fatigue performance. The selection also covers the fundamental research on the subject and the development of theories. The book will be of great interest to students, researchers, and practitioner of materials science.

Advances in Fracture Research
Author: B.L. Karihaloo
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 008098374X
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 661
Book Description
Fracture is a major cause of failure in metallic and non-metallic materials and structures. An understanding of the micro- and macro- mechanisms of fracture enables materials scientists to develop materials with high fracture resistance, which in turn helps engineers and designers to ensure the soundness and integrity of structures made from these materials. The International Congress on Fracture is held every four years and is an occasion to take stock of the major achievements in the broad field of fracture, to honour those who have made lasting contributions to this field, and to reflect on the future directions. ICF9 is published in six volumes covering the areas of:-- Failure Analysis, Remaining Life Assessment, Life Extension and Repair- Failure of Multiphase and Non-Metallic Materials- Fatigue of Metallic and Non-Metallic Materials and Structures- Theoretical and Computational Fracture Mechanics and New Directions- Testing and Characterization Methods, and Interfacial Fracture Mechanics- High Strain Rate Fracture and Impact Mechanics.
