Excerpt from A Familiar Digest of All the Pension and Bounty Land Laws of the United States Now in Force, Systematically Arranged: Containing All the Necessary Forms of Application, Declarations, Certificates, Powers of Attorney, Affidavits, Executive Regulations, Rules of Evidence, Etc., Compiled From the Official Records By this act, a commissioned officer was allowed, as a full pension, one half the monthly pay which was legally allowed at the time Of his incurring the disability; the proportion less than a full pension, to correspond with the proportions of said half pay no pension, however, to be calculated at a higher rate than the half pay of a Lien tenant Colonel. The full pension of a non-commissioned Officer, soldier, marine, or seaman, was fixed at five dollars per month, and less than a full pension in the proportion Of five dol lars per month.
