Book Description
Angles are a way of picking winners from the past performances using a set of rules. The great thing about an angle is that once the rules are learned, there is not a lot of judgment required. Many handicappers seem to prefer to handicap an entire race card as if they are some sort of chess master, playing the races like a chess board. And I can understand this attempt at becoming a master class handicapper. But still, I've never been a big fan of a robust method of handicapping. The type of analysis that takes into account every conceivable factor, and then weighs all of these variables to make a selection. I have attempted this type of handicapping, but when I began to use angles for selecting winners, I found that I was spending less time handicapping, and I also discovered that I was winning at the same rate. The angles I have written about are those I use betting at harness tracks in race books in Las Vegas. Some of the angles in this book work better at some tracks than others, but the ones I have included here work at the largest number of tracks that I have researched. In a previous book I wrote, 19 Valuable Horse Racing Betting Systems, I explained angles for harness racing, along with thoroughbred and quarter horse angles. The three harness angles in that book have been reprinted in this book, but everything else appears here for the first time. The rules of the handicapping angles in this book are clearly explained and easy to use. Here is the list of the angles: Frequent Play Angles The Basic Elimination Method The Quick Rating Method for Harness Racing The Top Speed Rating Method The Median Speed Rating Method The Power Rating Method Spot Play Angles The Qualifier Advantage Morning Line Overlay The Non-Winners of X Races Lifetime Angle Last Race Winner Top Speed Rating Second Race Back Lowest Purse Value Last 10 Top Earnings Last 4 starts Trotter Angles Tote Board Magic

Book Description
This book is a LARGE PRINT format paperback using an 18 pt. Arial font. This book represents three decades of handicapping and betting harness races and is a summary of observations that are important to being a winning player. This book summarizes the conclusions on what made the author a winning player. There is no magic formula to become a winning player and the author is the first to say that there is more than one road to profits. This book is the road taken by Doug Masters to becoming a winning player. Becoming a winning player is part art and part skill, so it is impossible to summarize it as a mechanical method; however, Doug attempts to outline his process in the second half of the book. This book may be difficult for beginning harness handicappers to read because it does not explain any basic terminology. There are, however, glossaries of harness racing terms online as well in the racing programs of harness tracks. There are no winning examples in this book. This is a quote from the author in the introduction. "You will find no past performances listed in this book; this is intentional. Anyone who has been around harness racing for even a few years has probably read various books and publications offering a handicapping system. All of them will have examples of how a handicapping system or angle picked a winner. Anyone can do this, especially when so many of these authors are working backwards from the winner. To me, it is simply a waste of time. And besides, only a mediocre or inexperienced handicapper is going to believe there is a single path to success in wagering. This book consists of my observations of the sport and how it relates to my own handicapping perspective. If you are looking for a system that represents some sort of absolute truth, you're looking in the wrong place." Topics include: Handicapping Factors, Drivers, Horse Form, Speed, Pace, Class, Post position, Track, Statistics, Betting multiple racetracks.

Book Description
In this book by sports and horse racing handicapper Ken Osterman, he focuses exclusively on thoroughbred handicapping, and has put down in writing the one system he uses at race books throughout Las Vegas, Nevada. He has given this method the audacious title of, "The Most Powerful System Ever Devised for Thoroughbred Race Betting." In many ways it is the most powerful method because it is based upon solid mathematics and statistics. It can also be applied at any track, at any distance, for winning horses, three year old and upward, carded at any track in the United States or Canada. This method can be used as a handicapping system all by itself, but what makes it even more attractive as a handicapping method is that it fits with other methods. You can use this method first, and then apply your favorite handicapping approach to the remainder of the field. Alternatively, you can do the opposite, and start with your handicapping approach. After finding what you believe to be the winner of the race, you can then apply this method to your choice. This will give your selection greater validity and strength, or it may give you a reality check by pointing out the weakness of your choice. Along with the title method, there are a wide range of spot plays (angles) in this book, covering claiming races, sprints, speed, turf, maiden races, two year old races, long shot methods, beaten favorites, and other categories. The following are the titles for each spot play in the book. The New Low Claiming Price Angle The B6 Sprint System for Thoroughbreds Bet the Fastest Horse The Route Speed Method Class on the Turf Three Strikes and You're Out - A Maiden Claiming Route Angle First Time Maiden Claiming The Speed and Earnings Method Best Jockey Two Race Declines A Beaten Favorite System Twice Beaten Favorites The Previous Odds Angle The Sleeper Horse The 4 1/2 Furlong Race System Tote Board Magic Tote Board Magic II Betting Favorites Using the Modified d'Alembert Betting Method

Book Description
Quarter Horse racing may seem difficult to handicap, especially for those who are accustomed to thoroughbred handicapping, but in this book by Las Vegas based handicapper Ken Osterman, the difficulty melts away. Inside this book are a variety of approaches to quarter horse handicapping systems, angles and spot plays that are both clever and innovative. The rules of the handicapping angles in this book are clearly explained and easy to use. Included in this book are: An in-depth approach to handicapping maiden claiming races. The best way to compute class for two and three year old races. A unique class rating for older horses that are uses with several of these angles. A parallel time chart to aid in comparing final times at different distances. Most of these systems are for picking winners on the straightaway, but there are two separate systems for 870 yard races: one for winners and one for maiden races. All you need to use this book are the past performances, and with a few of these angles, perhaps a simple calculator. These angles have been shown to be effective at all of the major quarter horse tracks in the United States.
