Book Description
Smart Antennas—State of the Art brings together the broad expertise of 41 European experts in smart antennas. They provide a comprehensive review and an extensive analysis of the recent progress and new results generated during the last years in almost all fields of smart antennas and MIMO (multiple-input multiple-output) transmission. The following represents a summarized table of content.Receiver: space-time processing, antenna combining, reduced rank processing, robust beamforming, subspace methods, synchronization, equalization, multiuser detection, iterative methods Channel: propagation, measurements and sounding, modelling, channel estimation, direction-of-arrival estimation, subscriber location estimation Transmitter: space-time block coding, channel side information, unified design of linear transceivers, ill-conditioned channels, MIMO-MAC strategies Network Theory: channel capacity, network capacity, multihop networks Technology: antenna design, transceivers, demonstrators and testbeds, future air interfaces Applications and Systems: 3G system and link level aspects, MIMO HSDPA, MIMO-WLAN/UMTS implementation issues This book serves as a reference for scientists and engineers who need to be aware of the leading edge research in multiple-antenna communications, an essential technology for emerging broadband wireless systems.

Book Description
Artificial intelligence (AI) is a branch of computer science that models the human ability of reasoning, usage of human language and organization of knowledge, solving problems and practically all other human intellectual abilities. Usually it is characterized by the application of heuristic methods because in the majority of cases there is no exact solution to this kind of problem. Soft computing can be viewed as a branch of AI that deals with the problems that explicitly contain incomplete or complex information, or are known to be impossible for direct computation, i.e., these are the same problems as in AI but viewed from the perspective of their computation. The Mexican International Conference on Artificial Intelligence (MICAI), a yearly international conference series organized by the Mexican Society for Artificial Intelligence (SMIA), is a major international AI forum and the main event in the academic life of the country’s growing AI community. In 2010, SMIA celebrated 10 years of activity related to the organization of MICAI as is represented in its slogan “Ten years on the road with AI”. MICAI conferences traditionally publish high-quality papers in all areas of artificial intelligence and its applications. The proceedings of the previous MICAI events were also published by Springer in its Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence (LNAI) series, vols. 1793, 2313, 2972, 3789, 4293, 4827, 5317, and 5845. Since its foundation in 2000, the conference has been growing in popularity and improving in quality.

Book Description
The evolution and popularity of the Internet and computing GRID has brought the cooperative computing research discipline to the Internet, for which we coined the term Cooperative Internet Computing (CIC). This conference brings together new and different approaches to CIC.The book contains the revised version of the 12 best papers presented at the conference, listed under four categories: theories and protocols of CIC, technologies and architecture of CIC, collaborative information retrieval, and CIC applications. This collection serves as a useful resource for those interested in the research and study of CIC.

Book Description
This monograph, divided into four parts, presents a comprehensive treatment and systematic examination of cycle spaces of flag domains. Assuming only a basic familiarity with the concepts of Lie theory and geometry, this work presents a complete structure theory for these cycle spaces, as well as their applications to harmonic analysis and algebraic geometry. Key features include: accessible to readers from a wide range of fields, with all the necessary background material provided for the nonspecialist; many new results presented for the first time; driven by numerous examples; the exposition is presented from the complex geometric viewpoint, but the methods, applications and much of the motivation also come from real and complex algebraic groups and their representations, as well as other areas of geometry; comparisons with classical Barlet cycle spaces are given; and good bibliography and index. Researchers and graduate students in differential geometry, complex analysis, harmonic analysis, representation theory, transformation groups, algebraic geometry, and areas of global geometric analysis will benefit from this work.

Book Description
Over the past two decades, we have witnessed unprecedented innovations in the development of miniaturized electromechanical devices and low-power wireless communication making practical the embedding of networked computational devices into a rapidly widening range of material entities. This trend has enabled the coupling of physical objects and digital information into cyber-physical systems and it is widely expected to revolutionize the way resource computational consumption and provision will occur. Specifically, one of the core ingredients of this vision, the so-called Internet of Things (IoT), demands the provision of networked services to support interaction between conventional IT systems with both physical and artificial objects. In this way, IoT is seen as a combination of several emerging technologies, which enables the transformation of everyday objects into smart objects. It is also perceived as a paradigm that connects real world with digital world. The focus of this book is exactly on the novel collective and computational intelligence technologies that will be required to achieve this goal. While, one of the aims of this book is to discuss the progress made, it also prompts future directions on the utilization of inter-operable and cooperative next generation computational technologies, which supports the IoT approach, that being an advanced functioning towards an integrated collective intelligence approach for the benefit of various organizational settings.
