Book Description
The Unveiling Origin of Mecca provides insights into the history of Kaaba (Ka’ba) in Mecca. The Ka’ba is the first house built on earth. It is one of the few and perhaps the only Islamic History books that looks at modern archaeological evidence and the Holy Quran and the history of the Quran to explore the proper location of the Ka’ba. The author notes that in the Holy Quran, Mecca, sometimes also called Becca, which words are synonymous, and signify “a place of great intercourse,” is undoubtedly one of the most ancient cities in the world. Some authors imagine it to be the Mesa, or Mesha, of the Scripture and that it deduced its name from one of Ishmael’s sons. It stands in a stony and barren valley, surrounded by mountains under the exact parallel with the Macoraba of Ptolemy, and about 40 Arabian miles from the sea 'Al Kolzom. There is a magnificent temple in the city, like the Colosseum at Rome. However, it is not made of such large stones but burnt bricks and round in the same manner. It has ninety or one hundred doors around it and is arched...upon entering the temple you descend ten or twelve steps of marble, and here and there about the said entrance there stand men who sell jewels and nothing else. Researching ancient Islam and the origin of Mecca, the author asserts that the Ka’ba is currently misplaced, contradicting the Holy Quran and Arabian geography. Although there are many Islamic scholars and Quran research Institutes throughout the world, sadly, none of them have yet verified the exact places, mountains surrounding Ka’ba, and its sacred area according to the Holy Quran.

Exploring the richness and diversity of traditions practiced by the 1.5 billion Muslims across the world, Sophia Rose Arjana provides a rigorous theoretical discussion of pilgrimage, ritual practice and the nature of sacred space in Islam, both historically and in the present day. This all-encompassing survey covers issues such as time, space, tourism, virtual pilgrimages and the use of computers and smartphone apps. Book Description
Epilogue I think it would be very difficult to write an epilogue on a work which is dedicated to Imam Musa Sadr as there has been no signifi cant research on the thought, philosophy or even the role of his social theory within Muslim intellectual traditions as well as world philosophy in general. The majority of works in Arabic or Persian and even Turkish have been mainly focused upon his political leadership during one of the stormiest periods of Lebanese's contemporary history namely the years before the invasion of Lebanon by Israeli forces in 80s. The works in English language are primarily focused upon his charismatic role as an Iranian religious leader who was backed up by Grand Ayatullah Borujerdi in endorsing the deprived Shia community in Lebanon vis-à-vis Sunnis as well as Christians who had the upper hands both politically and economically prior to his arrival. Although there may be a grain of truth in these kinds of accounts nevertheless this line of historiography misses the main picture which was at the heart of Sadrian worldview namely to establish peaceful coexistence among various communities and religious traditions based on sacred principles via conscious realization of eternal truths which are customarily called religious' rules. However the point is that we are far away from a conclusion about the philosophy of Imam Musa Sadr and the role he played as an intellectual within the global politics as to understand the character of his worldview and the nature of his political philosophy as well as the spirit of his social theory we need to understand the nature of the schools of two of his mentors namely Ayatullah Borujerdi and Ayatullah Mohsen Hakim. The impact of these two men on Sadr is indelible but not scholarly researched upon and we need to catalogue the contours of these intellectual relationships which (p.97)
