Book Description
This imaginative and unconventional debut novel is set centuries in the future. An unnamed event has wiped out most of humanity, scattering its remnants across vast and now barren lands reminiscent of the 19th century western frontier of America. Small clusters of humans still cling to existence in a post-apocalyptic world that is increasingly overrun by those who have risen from the dead--or, as the living call them, the Walkin'. Thomas, a thirty-two year old conscripted soldier, homeward bound to the small frontier town of Barkley after fighting in a devastating civil war, is filled with hope at the thought of being reunited with his wife, Sarah, and daughter, Mary, both named after characters in the Good Book. As it turns out, he also happens to be among the Walkin'. Devoid of a pulse or sense of pain, but with his memories and hopes intact, Thomas soon realizes that the living, who are increasingly drawn to the followers of the Good Book, are not kindly disposed to the likes of him. And when he learns what the good people of Barkley intend to do to him, and to his family, he realizes he may just have to kidnap his daughter to save her from a fate worse than becoming a member of the undead. When the people of Barkley send out a posse in pursuit of father and daughter, the race for survival truly begins...

Book Description
A young man in despair cries out: Why cant I be gay and still be loved by God? And God replies: Yes you can! Yes you are! Once in a generation there comes a story so rare and beautiful that it changes peoples lives. The Voice of My Brothers Blood is such a story. David Shepherd is a picture of the perfect sonhandsome young teacher in an evangelical Christian ministry. Once caught up in the hedonistic gay lifestyle in San Francisco, David is convinced he has been changed by the will of God. Summoned to counsel a student who refuses to accept traditional Bible teaching on homosexuality, David knew from the moment he looked into the compelling brown eyes of Mark Ward that this defiant young man with the face of an angel would challenge everything he thought he believed. Together David and Mark find themselves swept up in a struggle for justice, searching for the strength to stand against a Goliath of religious bigotry. Liberally referencing the Bible as a weapon for truth, The Voice of My Brothers Blood is a story of adoration and conviction that jerks the sanctimonious foundation out from under religious intolerance. _________________________________________ David Charles Craley is a writer, editor and, for more than four decades, a researcher and teacher of the Bible. Book Description
A “gripping, emotionally charged” account of a brutal crime committed by escaped prisoners from an Edgar Award–winning author (Los Angeles Times Book Review). In 1973, six members of the Alday family were brutally murdered in their home in Donalsonville, Georgia, by fugitives who escaped from a Maryland prison and broke in to the Alday’s house. Two of the escapees were brothers, and they picked up another one of their siblings, only fifteen years old, along the way. The governor at the time—future president Jimmy Carter—called it “the most heinous crime in Georgia.” This true account looks at the entire story: not only the unspeakable massacre and its aftermath, but the horrifying backstories and motives of the various perpetrators—one of whom would finally be executed thirty years later.

Book Description
The Catholic Church has in recent decades been associated with political efforts to eliminate the death penalty. It was not always so. This timely work reviews and explains the Catholic Tradition regarding the death penalty, demonstrating that it is not inherently evil and that it can be reserved as a just form of punishment in certain cases. Drawing upon a wealth of philosophical, scriptural, theological, and social scientific arguments, the authors explain the perennial teaching of the Church that capital punishment can in principle be legitimate—not only to protect society from immediate physical danger, but also to administer retributive justice and to deter capital crimes. The authors also show how some recent statements of Church leaders in opposition to the death penalty are prudential judgments rather than dogma. They reaffirm that Catholics may, in good conscience, disagree about the application of the death penalty. Some arguments against the death penalty falsely suggest that there has been a rupture in the Church's traditional teaching and thereby inadvertently cast doubt on the reliability of the Magisterium. Yet, as the authors demonstrate, the Church's traditional teaching is a safeguard to society, because the just use of the death penalty can be used to protect the lives of the innocent, inculcate a horror of murder, and affirm the dignity of human beings as free and rational creatures who must be held responsible for their actions. By Man Shall His Blood Be Shed challenges contemporary Catholics to engage with Scripture, Tradition, natural law, and the actual social scientific evidence in order to undertake a thoughtful analysis of the current debate about the death penalty.

Book Description
Not many people experience the death of a child; fewer yet face the possibility of having to do it twice. Justin DeLong was a bright, energetic child when he was diagnosed with leukemia at age five. After battling the cancer, he went into remission for ten years, where he laughed and ran long-distance races and slowly entered adolescence. Sadly, in July 2000 he succumbed to the disease twelve days after his fifteenth birthday. Lisa DeLong and her family were left to pick up the pieces and try to find joy in life without their beloved eldest son and brother. Then, six years later, they discovered something terrifying-their youngest son, Jacob, had leukemia too. Blood Brothers is Lisa DeLong's story of what it has been like to have two sons with leukemia, a lifetime apart. As she struggles to understand how a loving God could allow this to happen, she searches for a way to keep her marriage, her family, and her own sanity together. Whether you're a mother, someone who has experienced cancer either in yourself or someone you love, or a medical professional, the story of these two Blood Brothers will speak to your heart and allow you to see how with faith, great triumph can come from unimaginable tragedy.
