Book Description
In the tradition of Isabel Allende’s career-launching debut, The House of the Spirits, a multigenerational, Latin American saga of love and revolution in which a rebel who commits a youthful betrayal receives a late-life chance at redemption and a new life: “a tour de force” from “the new master” (Luis Alberto Urrea, New York Times bestselling author of Good Night, Irene). In 1964, Stanislavo, a zealous young man devoted to his ideals, turns his back on his privilege to join the leftist movement in the jungles of Venezuela. There, as he trains, he meets Emiliana, a nurse and fellow revolutionary. Though their intense connection seems to be love at first sight, their romance is upended by a decision with consequences that will echo down through the generations. Almost forty years later, in a poor barrio of Caracas, María, a single mother, ekes out a precarious existence as a housekeeper, pouring her love into Eloy, her young son. Her devotion will not be enough, however, to keep them from disaster. On the eve of the attempted coup against President Chávez, Eloy is wounded by a stray bullet, fracturing her world. Amid the chaos at the hospital, María encounters Stanislavo, now a newspaper editor. Even as the country itself is convulsed by waves of unrest, this twist of fate forces a belated reckoning for Stanislavo, who may yet earn a chance to atone for old missteps before it’s too late. With its epic scope, gripping narrative, and unflinching intimacy, Freedom Is a Feast announces a major new talent. Alejandro Puyana has delivered a wise and moving debut about sticking to one’s beliefs at the expense of pain and chaos, about the way others can suffer for our misdeeds even when we have the best of intentions, and about the possibility for redemption when love persists across time.

Book Description
This first book in the After Eden series chronicles the rise of nations from the descendants of Cain and the descendants of Seth. When a branch of Cain's line gives rise to the abominable race of Giants, Seth and his followers lay the foundations of the great city of Lhiosquor. With divine help, the people of Lhiosquor manage to prevent the first generation of Giants from subjugating the human race. However, it is not long before decisions made by some of Seth's descendants set in motion a prophesied sequence of catastrophic events. A new generation of Giants arises, threatening to destroy the City of Light from without as the ambition and machinations of the powerful threaten it from within. At this time, God raises up the prophet Enoch. Descended from both the line of Seth and the line of Cain, Enoch presents a choice to the people of Lhiosquor and all other free peoples of the world: acknowledge God and receive His favour, or fall to the cruel dominion of the Giants.

Book Description
Czarina is a heart-warming diction of an ordinary persecuted citizen of the Soviet Union. It has in its folds a blend of love and affection, jealousy and prejudice, fright and disgust, sex and adultery; all interwoven with great expertise reflecting the usual human instincts. The author does not attract the reader by creating undue suspense, nor does the story start with a bang. He puts the story to the reader in a natural way. Despite heros outstanding performance in written tests, he does not get the expected position after an interview for a governmental job. With frustration abound, the hero deserts his country through Afghanistan and reaches the UK. Without dragging, the author illustrates with perfection the plight of an asylum seeker. On arrival in the UK, he starts his life with menial jobs and with the passage of time, through devotion and hard work, he reaches the top echelons in the British society. While struggling to reach this enviable position he could not give as much attention to his wife as was expected by her. Being so neglected, she gets attracted to a handsome admiral of Royal Navy. I was gripped to complete reading in one go to find whether the Hero and heroine unite..Professor Sabir Jaffery This is an interesting story which holds the readers attention throughout. It has a good length and the plot hangs together well. The characters are believable and the book gives good insights into the Russian attitudes and character, as well as the functioning of the Soviet administration. The transition to a more open type of administration after the dissolution of the USSR is well handled. For Westerners there are many glimpses of life in an unfamiliar context. Book Description
Thus comes the plainitive cry of Kailash Pandit. The reporting on Kashmir has whitewashed the human tragedy of Kashmiri Hindus. This book retells the tale in a fictionalized account which is all too real. It catches the facts of deception, betrayal, propaganda and political ambitions that have all but erased the memories of oppression of Kashmiri Hindus from the nation's conscience. It extricates the truth of human tragedy and presents it with brutal honesty. Thus, Kailash Pandit's question, trapped in his head, or Aarti Kaul's unconceived womb become powerful metaphors of what happened to Kashmiri Hindus. It is time for Kailash Pandit to speak; this is his story. This is Kashmir's story. This is Kasheer.Originally written in Kannada, this book is translated into English by Hemanth Shanthigrama, who is a London-based technology professional.

Book Description
In his monumental narrative of the outbreak of the First World War and the ill-fated Russian offensive into East Prussia, Solzhenitsyn has written what Nina Krushcheva, in The Nation, calls "a dramatically new interpretation of Russian history." The assassination of tsarist prime minister Pyotr Stolypin, a crucial event in the years leading up to the Revolution of 1917, is reconstructed from the alienating viewpoints of historical witnesses. The sole voice of reason among the advisers to Tsar Nikolai II, Stolypin died at the hands of the anarchist Mordko Bogrov, and with him perished Russia's last hope for reform. Translated by H.T. Willetts. August 1914 is the first volume of Solzhenitsyn's epic, The Red Wheel; the second is November 1916. Each of the subsequent volumes will concentrate on another critical moment or "knot," in the history of the Revolution. Translated by H.T. Willetts.
