50 Activities Emotional Intelligence L1
Author: Dianne Schilling
Publisher: Bloomsbury Publishing
ISBN: 1855396246
Category : Education
Languages : en
Pages : 144
Book Description
Research indicates that IQ contributes only about 20 percent to the factors that determine success. The other 80 percent of the factors are related to EQ-emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence impacts every area of life-health, learning, behavior and relationships. Teaching children and youth to understand, manage, and productively express their emotional intelligence pays big dividends in all areas of their lives and yours. In response to the growing EQ movement these activity guides have been developed based on the ground-breaking brain and behavioral research on emotional intelligence. The result is a complete emotional literacy program. Each book contains a comprehensive overview of emotional intelligence theory-what it is, why it has become such a hot topic in education, and its scientific basis in brain research, plus concrete suggestions for “schooling” the emotions. Each unit includes a thematic overview, stimulating age-appropriate activities and lively discussion topics.

Knowing Who I Am
Author: Nianell
Publisher: Struik Christian Media
ISBN: 1415315191
Category : Biography & Autobiography
Languages : en
Pages : 249
Book Description
Wherever she goes the popular South African singer and celebrity, Nianell, offers this important, inspiring message: Every one of us may, can and should love ourselves. If we can do this, we will touch people around us and thereby make a difference in their lives. In her first book, Knowing Who I Am, the acclaimed singer tells of the lessons life has taught her and of discovering how to love herself. Nianell takes the reader on a journey through her life, from being a shy, withdrawn schoolgirl to becoming the person she is today – sharing freely what she has learned along the way. Like most people, Nianell has had to face challenges, and she offers an honest, transparent and unpretentious account of her personal experience of suffering, the struggle to belong, love, womanhood, being a mother of triplets and being a star. Above all, says Nianell, she has learned that each of us can and must love ourselves, and we always have to remember who we really are. Her personal stories, many shared with the public for the first time, illustrate how she came to the point of accepting herself and always remembering who she is. Nianell’s descriptions of her personal experiences will touch the heart and give people insight into her life and the fact that celebrities face the same issues we all wrestle with. Her stories will inspire you and help you realise the value of accepting and loving yourself as you are. Knowing Who I Am is an enjoyable combination of biography and inspiration – it is a reading and growing experience that will remain with you long after you have finished the book. The book comes with a special bonus CD containing some of Nianell’s hit songs.

Who Am I And Who Says I Am Who I Am
Author: Pastor Albert J. Harris Jr.
Publisher: Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.
ISBN: 1098058593
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 179
Book Description
Once again, God continues to remind me that my life is a lifetime of untold stories that I must share with the world. It is God who inspires the stories for me to tell to the world. As God was preparing my mind to write this story, I personally had experience many of the things that I talk about in this book. There is one thing that I have accepted as I wrote this book, and that is, "For in God we live, and move, and have our being" (Acts 17:28). I'm just saying that God is the source of our very existence. This is why, I practice believing "that I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me" (Phil. 4:13). I want you to know that what God does for one person, he can do the same for you. That is the purpose of this book: to give hope to those who are hopeless and helpless. I believe that we need to get to know ourselves because we don't know ourselves as well as we think we do. But I know someone who knows all of us better than we know ourselves (Jer. 1:5). Let me encourage and inspire someone that the one who knows you better that you know yourselves is Jesus. He also has your best interest at heart. I recommend that we consider submitting, and surrendering to him because he is the life that we've all been searching for (John 1:1–14).So it is, my brothers and my sisters, when you come to know who Jesus is, you will also come to know who you are. When God made you, he made the best you there is. So it is up to you not to lose hope nor your self-esteem, but you ought to continue your pursuit of being the best that you can be with God's help. Jesus gives this hope to all those who will believe and trust him. In John 10:10b, Jesus says, "I come that you have life, and have life more abundantly." My brothers and my sisters, it is my prayer that you be the best that you can be with the resources that God provides, for all of us. Every day that you wake up, it is another for improvement in your life. Please don't let life's opportunities pass you by, but start taking advantage of every opportunity that comes your way because life is too short to pass it up.Stop underestimating your worth. God said that everything that he made was good and very good that includes you and me, amen (Gen. 1:31).With much love, I send these pages of my life out into the world with the hope that someone's life will be the better. Also, I want to remind someone that their life also is a book, whether it's open are closed, it can be shared with the world. It's a wonderful thing to know that we reap what we sow. In other words, what goes around comes around. Amen. When we invest in others, we also invest in ourselves (Gal. 6:7–8).May God always bless and keep you.

Charisma and Community
Author: Mary Jo Neitz
Publisher: Transaction Publishers
ISBN: 9781412819411
Category : Social Science
Languages : en
Pages : 336
Book Description
Since Comte, social scientists have tended to assume that modèrnization, along with a trièµ´mphant scientific rationality, has destroyed the legitimacy of religion as a social reality. However, this crisis of legitè¹macy has never been examined in a setting where religious realè¹ty is affirmed. This book fills that gap, exploring the meaning of religious reality in the lives of a group of Catholic Charismatics to discover how belief is created, developed, and maintained. Charismatics, or Neo-Pentecostals, tend to be white, relaè² ively affluent, well educated, and believe that they possess certain gifts including the power of healing, prophesy, discernè¡«ent of evil spirits, and speakè¹ng in tongues. In describing and analyzing this religious minority, the author provides a basis for reevaluating sociological asè²umptions about religion and modernity. She asks: to what exè² ent can religion define the soèial world? Are religious values necessarily irrelevant to most institutional contexts? Is reè¡igious reality only persuasive in the context of family and priè¡«ary group relations? What are the tensions between religious realities and other beliefs? Her answers have implications for all ways of making sense of the world, including common sense or science. Neitz situates the Charismatic Renewal in a broader social and historical context. She examines the antecedents of Neo-Pentecostalism in American culture and compares this movement with the secular, self-awareness movement. In so doing she shows what is unique about the Charismatics, and what they share with religious predeèessors and members of contemè¨orary secular movements.
