Il devrait être une procédure simple, rapide et reproductible permettant d'obtenir un résultat optimum. Les attentes des patients en dentisterie sont toujours plus élevées et ils exigent à juste titre "porter" des restaurations qui reproduisent au mieux toutes les propriétés optiques des dents naturelles. La recherche de la juste couleur est un défi quotidien pour les chirurgiens dentistes. La technique la plus utilisée par les praticiens est la prise de couleur manuelle avec teintier. Cette technique permet une évaluation rapide et simple mais trop approximative et subjective de la "couleur" d'une dent. Sascha HEIN et al. créés eLABor_aid®, un protocole qui permet de standardiser la prise de couleur d'une dent. Ce protocole utilise la photographie à lumière polarisée croisée, avec une carte de balance des blancs normalisée servant de référence connue, en conjonction avec un/des logiciel(s) de traitement de photographie numérique fonctionnant dans le système CIE L*a*b. Dans ce travail, nous définissons et expliquons le protocole eLABor_aid®. Nous nous intéressons également au travail du prothésiste dans la réalisation d'une restauration avec eLABor_aid®. Nous comparons enfin cette méthode avec la méthode dite "classique" de prise de couleur avec teintier, à travers la réalisation d'un cas clinique.
