He taught a few years, then returned to Germany, and in 1754 immigrated again, this time (via Philadelphia) to Harpers Ferry, Virginia (later West Virginia). He married twice, moved to Culpeper County, Virginia, and in 1766 to Rowan County, North Carolina. Descendants and relatives lived in Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri and elsewhere.
