Book Description
This volume contains the papers presented at the Seventh International Symposium on Acoustical Imaging and Holography. The meeting was held in Chicago, Illinois U.S.A. on August 30 - September 1, 1976. Since 1967 this series of conferences has served as an international forum for bringing together the many different facets of the ultrasonic visualization field. Medical diagnosis, nondestructive testing, underwater viewing, seismic the mapping, and acoustic analytical microscopy are examples of broad range applications of this technology. Throughly broad in scope, the common denominator that binds this volume together is the application of engineering and physics disciplines to the creation of images by means of ultrasonic waves. Efforts on the part of the program committe and their institutions are greatly appreciated, They are acknowledged below: Newell Booth Nave lex Arlington, Va. Byron B. Brendan Holosonics, Inc. Book Description
This volume contains forty-six of the papers presented at the Ninth International Symposium on Acoustical Imaging held December 3-6, 1979, in Houston, Texas. The theme of the confer ence was the integration of applications technology. The major objective of the conference was to promote interaction among researchers working on different applications of acoustical imaging. In addition to serving as a state-of-the-art research ref erence, this volume includes six tutorial review papers. For convenience, all the papers are grouped under the following headings: methods, transducers, processing and display, phased array considerations, acoustic microscopy/non-destructive evalu ation, reconstructive tomography and inversion techniques, tissue characterization and impediography, nedica1 applications, under water applications, and seismic applications. The editor would like to thank the authors and the confer ence participants. The editor would also like to express his appreciation for the assistance in evaluating the abstracts from the following members of the Program Committee: Mahfuz Ahmed, University of California Irvine l:1edica1 Center; Pierre A1ais, Paris University, France; C.B. Burckhardt, Hoffman-Laroche, Basel, Switzerland; B.P. Hildebrand, Spectron Development Labora tories, Inc., Costa Mesa, California; Larry W. Book Description
This volume contains the Proceedings of the Fifth International Symposium on Acoustical Holograhy and Imaging, held in Palo Alto, California, on July 18-20, 1973. The title of this Symposium differed from that of the previous four by the addition of the word "Imaging," reflecting an increase in emphasis on nonholographic methods of acoustical visualization. For convenience, no change has been made in the title of this published series. The 42 Symposium papers cover a wide range of theoreti cal and applied topics, and effectively define the state-of the-art in this rapidly developing field. Many of them relate to applications of acoustic visualization in such diverse fields as nondestructive testing, medical diagnosis, microscopy, underwater viewing, and seismic mapping. The papers presented at the Symposium were selected with considerable assistance from the Program Committee. The Editor wishes to thank the following persons for serving as members of this committee: P. Alais, University of Paris, France; B. A. Auld, Stanford University; D. R. Holbrooke, Children's Hospital of San Francisco; A. Korpel, Zenith Radio Corporation; J. L. Kreuzer, Perkin Elmer Corporation; A. F. Metherell, Actron Industries, Inc.; R. K. Mueller, Bendix Research Laboratories; B. Saltzer, u.S. Naval Under sea Research and Development Center; F. L. Thurstone, Duke University; and G. Wade, University of California, Santa Barbara.
