Excerpt from Harvard College, Class of 1877: Secretary's Report No. Vi Upon the Twenty-Fifth Anniversary of Graduation, 1902 One hundred and eighty-eight men have received the degree of A. B. As members of the Class of '77. Of these, thirty-two have died. Of the remainder I have heard from all but two. On our list of temporary members, when I took the secretaryship, were many men of whom there was no trace. We still, however, keep. In touch with about thirty of them, although from four or five I have heard nothing this year. In addition to the Class Gate, of which mention has been made, we have presented the College with a window in Memorial Hall, paid for out of our College Fund, and with a portrait of our late classmate and Secretary, William E. Russell, which hangs under that window. These gifts will serve to show that the interest of '77 in Alma Mater is still maintained as strongly as ever, and I understand that a further gift, a fund for a scholarship, is to be given by one of our classmates in the name of the Class this year. I desire to thank the members of the Class for their assistance in preparing this report. Several pressing personal letters and a telegram or two were necessary to extract a few of the lives, but the apologies that finally came with them were so sincere and satisfactory that their lateness in coming was forgotten.
