Des difficultés d'évocation sont souvent observées chez les enfants et adolescents ayant des troubles d'acquisition du langage oral et/ou écrit. Elles correspondent à une importante difficulté à récupérer en mémoire un mot pourtant connu pour le produire oralement. On parle alors de «manque du mot» ou de trouble d'accès lexical. Celui-ci peut passer inaperçu en discours spontané mais on repère une dissociation importante entre la compréhension lexicale qui est supérieure à l'expression. Ce trouble se trouve d' ailleurs au centre de la symptomatologie de la dysphasie mnésique. Or, il existe d'importantes différences descriptives et terminologiques de ce trouble dans la littérature : certains auteurs parlent d'un trouble exclusivement expressif quand d'autres évoquent des difficultés expressives et réceptives. Cette ambiguïté entraîne un manque de connaissances et de repérage de ces troubles par les cliniciens. Cette étude rétrospective propose donc d'analyser les résultats au bilan orthophonique de 38 collégiens vus au CRTLA de Tours. L'analyse des scores aux épreuves lexicales du TLOCC révèle l'existence de deux groupes cliniques : certains enfants présentent un trouble lexical sur les deux versants, d'autres ont des difficultés uniquement expressives. L'analyse des autres données du bilan montre un lien significatif entre déficit lexical (actif et/ou passif) et compréhension de phrases écrites, et un autre entre manque du mot et syntaxe orale. Enfin, l'analyse des diagnostics posés met en évidence que l' atteinte lexicale globale correspond à 92% aux enfants ayant un trouble développemental du langage oral tandis que le manque dumot est retrouvé à 85% chez les adolescents dyslexiques. Cette première approche permet donc de souligner l'existence de deux entités pathologiques distinctes ayant des impacts cliniques différents. Une étude plus approfondie permettrait de préciser l'enjeu du trouble d'accès lexical dans le développement des autres capacités langagières et dans 1' apprentissage du langage écrit.

The purpose of the World Psychiatric Association is to coordinate the activities of its Member Societies on a world-wide scale and to advance enquiry into the etiology, pathology, and treatment of mental illness. To further this purpose, the Association organizes mono- or multithematic Regional Symposia in different parts of the world twice a year, and World Congresses dealing with all individual fields of psychiatry once every five or six years. Between these meetings the continuation of the Association's scientific work is assured through the activities of its specialty sections, each covering an important field of psychiatry. The programs of the World Congresses reflect on the one hand the intention to present the coordinating functions of the Association and on the other to open a broad platform for a free exchange of views. Thus, the VII World Congress of Psychiatry, held in Vienna from July 11 to 16, 1983, was composed of two types of scientific events - those structured by the Association and those left to the initiative of the participants. The first type comprised Plenary Sessions, planned by the Scientific Program Committee, and Section Symposia, organized by the WPA sections; the second embraced Free Symposia, free papers, video sessions, and poster presentations prepared by the participants. Altogether, 10 Plenary Sessions, 52 Section Symposia, and 105 Free Symposia took place, and 78 free papers and poster sessions and 10 video sessions were held.

As an addition to the European postgraduate training system for young neurosurgeons we began to publish in 1974 this series of Advances and Technical Standards in Neurosurgery which was later sponsored by the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies. This series was first discussed in 1972 at a combined meeting of the Italian and German Neurosurgical Societies in Taormina, the founding fathers of the series being Jean Brihaye, Bernard Pertuiset, Fritz Loew and Hugo Krayenbiihl. Thus were established the principles of European co operation which have been born from the European spirit, flourished in the European Association, and have throughout been associated with this series. The fact that the English language is well on the way to becoming the international medium at European scientific conferences is a great asset in terms of mutual understanding. Therefore we have decided to publish all contributions in English, regardless of the native language of the authors. All contributions are submitted to the entire editorial board before publi cation of any volume. Our series is not intended to compete with the publications of original scientific papers in other neurosurgical journals. Our intention is, rather, to present fields of neurosurgery and related areas in which important recent advances have been made. The contributions are written by specialists in the given fields and constitute the first part of each volume.
