The first of these questions is probably, at least in part, the answer to the second. The very careful analysis of the language made by Rolfe and others has brought out the fact that it bears a considerable resemblance to the language of Aeschylus. This seems to me to tell the story, and I should agree with those who think that the play was written by Euripides when he was to a certain extent under the influence of the older dramatist.
