This is about 90 million pounds less than was auctioned during the corresponding quarter last year. Holdings of Burley tobacco were million pounds as of this October 1 which represents an increase of 80 million over stocks a year earlier Disappearance of Burley during the October l95l-september 1952 marketing year, as indicated by production estimates and changes in stocks, totaled 537 million pounds compared with 518 million during the previous marketing year. 'domestic consumption of about 507 million pounds was 19 million greater than during the previous market ing year; whereas exports of approximately 30 million were about the same. Excerpt from Tobacco Stocks Report: April 1, 1944 Stocks of flue-cured tobacco on April 1 totaled pounds, which were more than 185 million, or about 13 percent, lower than stocks of l,380,876,000 pounds reported on April 1, 19t3, and the lowest April 1 stocks since 1939. Of all flue-cured stocks on hand, M3l,982,000 pounds were reported as Type 11; h39,725,000 pounds as Type 12; pounds as Type 13; and pounds as Type lh. Stocks of all types were lower than on April 1 a year ago. Although a few sales were held in the flue-cured area in January, the amount added to stocks through this source was negligible.
