Laminar and Turbulent Boundary Layers in a Plane of Symmetry
Author: J. H. Baek
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Laminar flow
Languages : en
Pages : 146
Book Description
Detailed mean-flow and turbulence measurements have been made in the boundary layer in the plane of symmetry of a body of revolution at incidence. These data and the somewhat limited information available from previous experiments are utilized, together with extensive plane-of-symmetry boundary-layer calculations in laminar and turbulent flows, to determine the most important effects of mean-flow convergence and divergence. Super- and Hypersonic Aerodynamics and Heat Transfer
Author: V.Z. Parton
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 1351412930
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 209
Book Description
Recent government and commercial efforts to develop orbital and suborbital passenger and transport aircraft have resulted in a burgeoning of new research. The articles in this book, translated from Russian, were contributed by the world's leading authorities on supersonic and hypersonic flows and heat transfer. This superb book addresses the physics and engineering aspects of ultra high-speed aerodynamic problems. Thorough coverage is given to an array of specific problem-solving equations. Super- and Hypersonic Aerodynamics and Heat Transfer will be essential reading for all aeronautical engineers, mechanical engineers, mathematicians, and physicists involved in this exciting field of research.

Viscous Flow Applications
Author: Carlos A. Brebbia
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3642836836
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 195
Book Description
The Boundary Element Method has now become a powerful tool of engineering analysis and is routinely applied for the solution of elastostatics and potential problems. More recently research has concentrated on solving a large variety of non-linear and time dependent applications and in particular the method has been developed for viscous fluid flow problems. This book presents the state of the art on the solution of viscous flow using boundary elements and discusses different current approaches which have been validated by numerical experiments. . Chapter 1 of the book presents a brief review of previous work on viscous flow simulation and in particular gives an up-to-date list of the most important BEM references in the field. Chapter 2 reviews the governing equations for general viscous flow, including compressibility. The authors present a compre hensive treatment of the different cases and their formulation in terms of boundary integral equations. This work has been the result of collaboration between Computational Mechanics Institute of Southampton and Massa chusetts Institute of Technology researchers. Chapter 3 describes the gen eralized formulation for unsteady viscous flow problems developed over many years at Georgia Institute of Technology. This formulation has been extensively applied to solve aer09ynamic problems.

Boundary Layer Effects
Author: Anthony W. Fiore
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Turbulent boundary layer
Languages : en
Pages : 962
Book Description
In 1975 the U.S. Air Force and the Federal Republic of Germany signed a Data Exchange Agreement numbered AF-75-G-7440 entitled 'Viscous and Interacting Flow Fields.' The purpose was to exchange data in the area of boundary layer research. It includes both experimental and theoretical boundary layer research at speeds from subsonic to hypersonic Mach numbers in the presence of laminar, transitional, and turbulent boundary layers. The main effort in recent years has been on turbulent boundary layers, both attached and separated in the presence of such parameters as pressure gradients, wall temperature, surface roughness, etc. In the United States the research was conducted in various Department of Defense, NASA, aircraft corporations, and various university laboratories. In the Federal Republic of Germany it was carried out within the various DFVLR, industrial, and university research centers.
