Book Description
"Vittorio Gregotti is one of the best known architects of his generation in Italy. Beginning in the 1950s, Gregotti produced many large-scale housing projects, supermarkets and department stores for the Italian chain La Rinascente, college campuses (including Florence, Calabria, and Palermo), as well as graphic design for Ferrari, museum interiors, furniture, and an extensive body of writing." "This volume presents over 110 of Gregotti's projects from his early years with Architetti Associati, through the founding in 1974 of Gregotti Associati, the 1986 founding of the Campo design company, and his current work. Photographs, plans, sketches, and models are accompanied by Gregotti's own writings, which elucidate his commitment to historicism, his concern with the environment, and his vast polemics."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc. Book Description
African literature, like the continent itself is enormous and diverse. East Africa's literature is different from West Africa's which is quite different from South Africa's which has different influences on it than North Africa's. Africa's literature is based on a widespread heritage of oral literature, some of which has now been recorded. Arabic influence can be detected as well as European, especially French and English. Legends, myths, proverbs, riddles and folktales form the mother load of the oral literature. This book presents an overview of African literature as well as a comprehensive bibliography, primarily of English language sources. Accessed by subject, author and title indexes.

Book Description
Over the course of the past twenty-five years, anthologies have shifted from playing a relatively minor role in academic culture to a position of dominance. The essays in this collection explore the significant intellectual, economic, political, pedagogical, and creative resonance of anthologies through all levels of academic life. They show that anthologies have consequences and are grounded in commitments. Striving to articulate these consequences and commitments is a priority in higher education today. Most of the contributors to this volume are editors of anthologies, and they draw on personal experiences to provide a rare glimpse into the economics and logic of anthology publication. Their essays illustrate the ways in which editing an anthology involves negotiation and compromise between intellectual ideal and realistic practice. On Anthologies includes discussion of a wide range of anthologies used and produced by teachers and scholars. Though the emphasis is on literature and theory anthologies, the insights in this volume speak to professionals in all areas of academic life. Collectively, these essays establish the foundation for continuing critical analysis of anthology production and consumption in all disciplines.
