Book Description
Excerpt from Land Service Bulletin, Vol. 15: March 1, 1931 Oil lands, wyoming.-recently completed and accepted surveys in western Wyoming include Ts. 35 and 36 N R. 117 W., 6th P. M., surveyed under Group 105. The necessity for these surveys was occasioned by the issuance of a number of oil-prospecting permits, and as the nearby surveys in several directions were irrelated to each other in a considerable degree, it was evident that the survey of these lands was necessary in order to obviate conflicts and confusion in locations which might become serious in the event of the discovery of oil. It is a high, rough, mountainous area, drained by two streams, Gray's River and Little Gray's River, Which are tributary to Snake River. The district is described by the engineer as containing many beautiful Spots. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Description
Excerpt from The Milestone, 1931: Governor's Academy A milestone is always an exciting thing, and it looks two ways. Your particular milestone is especially interesting because the figures on one side of it are much larger than on the other. The number of miles behind you, at this bend in the road, are not many, but the stone is a comfortable place to sit, in warm spring sunshine, and look back for a moment. In those amusing miles behind you will have had a chance to learn one very important reality, the first really unselfish love that comes into a man's life: the love of an institution. Particularly if it is an Old foundation with a long history, a man loves the school where he studied. He loves it not just for his own memory of times good or difficuThe look in the other direction, toward the future, is less easy perhaps. It needs more stomach. The future holds more fun and more surprise and more hard work than you ever imagined possible, but it also holds that thing that frightens human beings more than anything else - uncertainty. I've been greatly interested lately in reading about the extraordinary effort being made by one nation, which has suffered many calamities, to plan and foreordain its future. I mean what the Russian Republic calls its five-y ear Plan; by which, in five years of organized effort, they propose to transform the economic life of a whole nation. Whether their plan can succeed, or whether the theories on which it is based are agreeable to our notions, is irrelevant. It is a gigantic human effort, and it has suggested to me that in this spring of 1931 many of us might make the experiment Of laying out a five-year Plan for ourselves as individuals. How can we map out our hopes and energies so that in the next five years we can be more useful and serviceableé - to ourselves and to others? Our Plan will fail, of course, in many details; but it would be something even to have thought about it. For it is certainly true that the things we most genu inely want and plan for can be made actual. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
